Cut@Home Blog - Scrapbooking & Card Making Ideas

Provo Craft-Cuttlebug Embossing Plus Folders

It has been a while since we blogged about the Provo Craft-Cuttlebug Embossing Plus Folders, however, several of you have been wondering about how to use them in your Cuttlebug Machines, so I am going to review for you! They do take a bit to get used to!

The most important thing to remember before beginning is to remove the cardboard backing by removing the two green tabs at the top! DO NOT TRY RUNNING THE FOLDER THROUGH YOUR MACHINE BEFORE DOING THIS! You could break your plates or your machine!

Once these are removed,  you can take the folder off of the backing and follow the instructions on the backing. It will tell you the sandwich formula to use for these folders. Please check your plates to make sure that you are using the proper plates!

We also have a How To Video which we hope will be helpful in using these folders! Once you get the hang of them, you are sure to have a lot of fun with them!

We will be closed Monday, July 4th for our Independence Day! Have a safe and happy 4th! We will be back on Tuesday!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Carrie

I was not able to get my Cuttlebug to accept the standard-sized A – B – B sandwich with the Embossing Plus folder until I used the longer plates, then it worked fine. I can live with this solution, but wondered what I’m not getting? The folder looks too long to fit with the standard plates (I’m using the tags folder). Thanks!

    Hi Gretchen,

The only thing I can think of is that maybe with the extra plastic, it might be to long for standard plates, as you normally don’t want to have your die or folder right up to the end of your plate as you are trying to feed it through the machine. It is hard to start. I say, if it works best with your extended plates, then keep using it that way!

I finally was able to get this sandwich combination to work BUT I lived in fear I was going to break my machine. It was such a tight fit, but going on faith that you said it would work, I proceeded despite the creaks and groans being made by my cuttlebug. I think I am too afraid that it will break to ever do it again. I am not pleased with this product.

  4. Cut@Home Says:

the Cuttlebug will creak and the plates will make a cracking noise which is common, but just remember to NEVER force anything through your machine. It may seem slightly tight, but if it was loose you would not get any results!

Does provocraft still mfg the embossing plus folders? I am particularly interested in finding an embossing folder that will make a greeting card with a window ( like one of your youtube videos).

Unfortunately, we are not currently carrying Provo Craft products, but believe that they are still manufacturing the Embossing Plus Folders. You will need to contact a retailer which carries their products.
