Hi everyone, I’m here today to share a fun ‘Wicked’ Birthday card for you from theGraphic 45 Steampunk Spells collection, fast becoming one of my favorites! I love the fantastic images and wanted to give you an idea to use anytime throughout the year. I cut the Steampunk lady on the bike from the 8×8 paper pad and the designer and solid papers from the patterns and solids 6×6 pad.
Card Prep: You’ll want to cut a card base from black cardstock, I used the Black Cat from Core’dinations, 5 1/2″ x 11″, score in half to form a square card. Cut a square from the Gold in the 6×6 pad to 5″ x 5″ and run through your embossing machine with the Diamond Plate Embossing Folder, ink the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink.
Preparing the Steampunk Gal: Fussy cut the darling Steampunk gal on the bike from the paper and remove her head. Use what you have on hand to add some feathers, a little bling and some stickles to her hat. Crease and fold just where her hat ends and her head begins. I inked her all around in Black Soot distress ink, this will remove any white from around the edges. You can add a little bling to the crows eye and use Glossy Accents to accentuate the necklace on the lady and the crow. I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam on the wings but you can leave them plain or add whatever glittery stuff you have on hand.
Stamping: Stamp from Stamp set 1 the ‘Something Wicked This Way Comes’ (stamp the word wicked twice) with Embossing ink onto Black Cardstock. I used Gold Glitter embossing powder. Cut around the letters leaving a black border around the edge.
Computer printing: From your computer, on a piece of glossy photo paper, print OMG it’s another Birthday!, cut into a 4″x4″ square, distress the inside with Tea Dye Distress Ink and the outside edges with Black Soot. Stamp the spider on the top right and the Witches Brew on the bottom left hand side of the square.
Assembly – outside: Attach the gal’s body on the left hand side of the gold embossed paper, attach her head above the body on your card so that the chin lines up in the proper position (attach only the top part of the hat) flip it up and adhere the one cut out word ‘wicked’ under the head. Attach the rest of the words on the right hand side so it reads ‘Something wicked this way comes!’. Poke a hole under the sentiment and attach the spinner with a brad through. Point the arrow end toward the inside of the card.
Assembly – inside: Take a piece of designer paper from the 6″x6″ pad, I used the gear paper but you can use your favorite and cut it 5 1/4″ x 5 1/4″. Rip the edges giving it a distressed look, ink the edges and attach it to the inside of your card. Attach your Birthday Sentiment to the middle of your distressed paper.
That’s it, you’ve completed a darling Birthday Card that’s sure to bring some grins and giggles from the recipient. Take a look at my video to see my process of putting it together for you. And most important of all, have fun!
Thanks & Happy Scrappin’!
