Want2Scrap Grand Albums Make Great Gift Ideas!

Thursday, December 15th, 2011

A while back I mentioned my great idea of giving my mother-in-law and great uncle mini albums made from Want2Scrap Grand Albums for Christmas. Well, I actually have my mother-in law’s finished (finally) and I wanted to show it to you! My great uncle’s is still in the works. I don’t have to have his done as soon.

I used the following supplies for this album:

9051-W2S Nestabling Fourteen HotPinkR

9311-W2S Nestaboard Labels Fourteen

This was so much fun to do! I know my mother-in-law will love it. She lives several hours away and we don’t get to see her as much as we would like to, so she really appreciates the pictures. She especially appreciates them already organized since she does not scrapbook what so ever!

I hope that you are all wrapping up your Christmas gifts as we only have 10 shopping days left including today!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Spellbinders Grand Impressabilities

Friday, November 4th, 2011

Many of you are familiar with Spellbinders Impressabilities, especially if you are a card maker, but have you tried the Grand Impressabilities? These are fabulous for Scrapbookers since they will emboss/deboss almost a full 8 1/2 x 11″ sheet of paper!

The Impressabilities templates will emboss, deboss, stencil, letter press and embellish all in one product.

Impressabilities embellishment templates allows crafters to effortlessly emboss or deboss the front of your scrapbook layout or add embossed or debossed accents to pre-cut shapes and letters, creating uniquely detailed embellishments.

Using micro-tip scissors, Impressabilities can also be trimmed to create custom templates for flourishes, frames, charms and more. And, when used with inks, Impressabilities templates can create elegant debossed Letter Press effects.

Here are a couple projects that I did using the Fall Splendor Grand Impressabilities which is perfect for this time of year.

I embossed a sheet of card with the Fall Splendor in my Grand Calibur then rubbed Tim Holtz Distress Ink over the top to bring out the leaves.

I also used  DC0202 Nesting Maple Leafs and the Splendid Alphabet (back ordered) from Quickutz.

This box was fun. I cut the box using Spellbinders LF-012 Square Petal Top Box then ran it through with the Fall Splendor. I used DCWV Shimmer card stock and Tim Holtz Distress Ink again to bring out the embossed images.  I finished it off with some Petaloo glitter leaves.  Fill with candy and have a great office gift!

I hope that gives you some ideas for the weekend!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Quickutz Be Spooked Gone Batty!

Friday, September 30th, 2011

I have had more fun with the new Be Spooked and Be Stuffed Collections by Quickutz lately than I can tell you! These dies are not intended just for layouts and cards!

As you can see from my BOO wood project, I grabbed one of the DC0189-Nesting Ghosts and one of the DC0191-Bats to embellish. I have to admit that I have become a pretty simple crafter.  I don’t have a lot of time to play, but I still love to craft,  so I keep my projects fast and easy so I can actually complete them! If it gets to extensive, it may end up waiting unfinished in a box in a dark corner of the basement!

My daughter and I got together over the weekend and each made a BOO. We used some of last years DCWV Halloween paper to mod podge onto the painted wood letters. We added a couple coats to the die cuts to give them some stiffness and protection. I liked her idea of making our spiders out of black pipe cleaner and a brad!

We had a finished project in just a couple of hours and our little Claire was actually a good sport and let us have our fun as long as we kept giving her a few Gold Fish crackers and had plenty of Weebles for her to play with!

Here’s my FINISHED project!

I hope that you will be able to take some time this weekend to finish a Halloween project or two! Have a great weekend!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Paper Projects For Turkey Day!

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

I know it is only the beginning of September, but I feel like the Holidays are sneaking up on me faster than a mugger in a dark alley! If I don’t start now I will be caught off guard! I have been working on my Thanksgiving table decor with the help of Quickutz Be Stuffed Collection. This is the first year that my only granddaughter will be an active participant in the festivities, so I want to make it fun instead of to formal (I’m afraid of breakage!).

I’m starting to think that there may not be enough room on the table for the food if I keep making table decorations, but this collection is just so easy and fun to play with that I can’t help myself! I used Die Cuts With A View Natural stacks for both of these projects.

Take a look at this Turkey! It takes only a few minutes to cut out and put together! I might just make one for everyone on my block! JK! Finished size is approximately 3.2 x 4.3 x 2.5″. Isn’t he adorable? And who will care if Claire gets her little hands on him and rings his neck (and smashes his body), I can make more!

Just so you can get an idea of what I’m talking about, I have included a picture of my little indian taken last night after I made the Feathered Headband for her. She is a character and I barely snapped a couple pics before she grabbed for the headband! As you can see, the feathers did not escaped a slight roughing up, but having them a bit floppy just accentuates her personality!

This set could be used for table decor, jar or tin wrappers, or even a cute napkin ring!

Approximate sizes:

1. Small Feather 1.2 x 5″

2. Large Feather 1.75 x 7″

3. Headband 1 x12″

She is a natural in front of the camera! She is much more fun to display my projects on than my kitchen table! Check back tomorrow for more fun Quickutz projects!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Be Spooked, Be Stuffed Collection!

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

As promised, I am featuring projects from the Be Spooked, Be Stuffed Collection from Quickutz/Lifestyle Crafts.  These dies can be used in the following machines: Quickutz Epic Six Tool, Provo Craft Cuttlebug, Sizzix Big Shot and Vagabond by Tim Holtz.

I used my beloved Cuttlebug for these projects. I rely on that little machine more than any of my others! It is like a trusted friend.

Since harvest time correlates with  fall, the first item of decor on my list for September 1st is pumpkins! I grow pumpkins in my garden for the sole purpose of decorating my front porch! I have a thing for pumpkins and scarecrows! A few corn stocks are also a must.

With that said, my first project just had to be with the Pumpkin dies! For dimension, cut 3 of each size. I used pattern paper from DCWV and 1/8″ Scor-Tape from Scor-Pal on the edges to hold the pieces together. I want to use these as table decorations (possibly put a candle in the middle of each) so I put a vine and leaf on all three sides.

Add faces to transform plain ol’ pumpkins into Jack-o-Lanterns for Halloween! Single pumpkins will also make great scrapbook embellishments for my fall layouts! Set includes 4 dies.

I used the Pilgrim Hat for my next project. I adore this die set because it is just so cute! Why use it only for Thanksgiving? I decided to make an altered witch hat for Halloween favors! More ideas- leave off the buckle for an Indiana Jones hat, turn up the sides and crease the front for a cowboy look, etc.! Fill with candy, crayons, mints, whatever! The best part is….with only 4 dies, it only takes minutes to put together!

There is more, but you will just have to wait until tomorrow to see more!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Die Cuts With A View Paper Stack Mania!

Friday, August 26th, 2011

How many times have I said that I love, love, love Die Cuts With A View paper stacks? Well then, I won’t say it again, but you get the idea! Not only do they have absolutely gorgeous patterns and color, but the weight is fabulous for almost any project! Whether you are making layouts, cards or altered projects, it is wonderful to work with! I also love the coordinating stack concept.

While we were at CHA Marcie took some video of some of the new DCWV products! Wow! My hats off to their incredible designers! Their artwork continues to inspire paper crafters world wide. I just watched a YouTube video of designers in Indonesia who created dresses for live models using DCWV paper! Incredible! DCWV also had items featured on the Today Show as part of a dorm room make-over. Way to go! If they are getting that kind of attention world wide, that says a lot to me. They have  Class A products and we are honored to carry them for our awesome customers!

Here’s some videos with some of the latest releases. You should be able to get some ideas!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Scrapbook The Firsts!

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

Most of us will take photos of the first milestones in our children’s lives and scrapbook them as quickly as possible, but do we remember to even think about ourselves and the milestones that we reach? Sometimes the big stuff, but not always the little things. Like the fist gray hair….

I spotted my first gray hair about a week before I turned 45. I wasn’t sure if it was really gray or if the light in my bathroom was playing tricks on me, so I yanked it out! Sure enough, it was actually white! I just looked at it like child inspecting a blade of grass. I was more curious that anything. Did this really come out of my head? I don’t feel old enough to get a gray hair!

I sat there looking at it for a few minutes trying to sort out my feelings about this, then decided that I should scrapbook it for sure! I was only a month and a half away from becoming a grandma, so this was monumental! I was running late for work, so I set it down in a place where I could see it later and off to work I went! Later that night I was doing something around that spot and then, in panic, remembered the hair! I searched all over, but alas, it was no where to be found! To tell the truth, I was sad! I really wanted to scrapbook it! I had to wait over 6 months later to find my second one, so it became my substitute. I had my son take a picture of me (he already knows I’m a little weird) and was ready to archive my gray hair. Why not? My mom saved my first haircut!

When I saw the Teresa Collins Noteworthy paper, it was perfect for what I wanted in my page!

Other supplies used:

Quickutz- English Rose Alphabet

Spellbinders- Labels Twenty Three 2 3/8 x 3″ die, Grand Labels Twenty Three 6 1/4 x 5″ die, Grand Rectangles 4 x 5″ die and Retro Mod Clocks

DCWV- Metallic Stack

Tim Holtz- Idea-ology Word Sticks

Fiskars- Clear Stamps

Creative Memories- clear envelope

I would like to challenge each of you to think of something that has been a first for you recently and scrapbook it! Maybe it was trying sushi for the first time or a new hairstyle. What did you think? Take a picture and make sure you journal how you felt at the time. Firsts are important no matter how old you are!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Fantastic Back To School Dies And Paper!

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

It’s that time of year when school bells are ringing and yellow buses are back on the road and homework is part of the nightly routine. Mom’s are exhausted just trying to get the kids out the door and peanut butter is a staple for sack lunches. Before you sent the kids out the door for the first time, you will want to capture the first day on your camera and we have all the needed products that will help you scrapbook those school day memories! Just check out our School category!

Graphic 45  An ABC Primer Collection is shipping now! A happy-go-lucky paper collection that pays homage to the vintage schoolhouse and classic nursery rhymes of times gone by. Recall fond memories from a simpler time when learning took place in a one-room schoolhouse, and cozy afternoons were spent studying the three Rs: reading, writing and arithmetic. This collection includes :

An ABC Primer 12×12 Paper Pad, An ABC Primer 8×8 Paper Pad, An ABC Primer Chipboard Tags 1, An ABC Primer Chipboard Tags 2, and stamp sets in collaboration with Hampton Arts-An ABC Primer 1, An ABC Primer 2 and An ABC Primer 3.

DCWV‘s Grade School Paper Stack  and Grade School Mat Stack are perfect for younger kids, and the High School Mat Stack is stylin’ for the older ones!

QuicKutz offers a large variety of school related dies that can help you embellish pages for all of your children from Pre-School – Collage!

I no longer have young school age children but if I can give any advise, it would be to record those days as soon as possible because you don’t remember things like you think you will and you don’t get any more time once they leave! There are still only 24 hours in a day and other things will fill in that time before you know it (like grandchildren)!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

New Spellbinders Edgeabilities Dies!

Monday, July 25th, 2011

I have had the opportunity to “test drive” a few of the brand new Spellbinders Edgeabilities dies and I believe that you are going to be just as pleased with these dies as the rest of your Spellbinders collections! The Edgeabilities are so versatile in that once you buy all 6 sets, you can mix and match to make over 75 different designs for your paper crafting projects! See all NEW Spellbinders Edgeabilities Video!

I  decided to use the Classic Postage Stamp Edgeabilies on my scrapbook layout with one of the decorative inserts. Each set comes with one cutting edge and two decorative inserts that are easily interchangeable because of their 1″ spacing.   It is nice that the length of the dies are 8″ even though I still had to run it through twice for cutting and twice for embossing to be able to get the whole 12 x 12page length.  It made it easier to place so that I could cut all the way across! The possibilities are endless with these dies!

The other items I used in this layout are as follows:

Graphic 45 products:

The Magic of Oz 12 x 12 paper pad

The Magic of Oz Chipboard Die-cuts 1

Spellbinders products:

Postage Stamps (2011 CHA summer release)

Donna’s Alphabet by Donna Salazar (2011 CHA summer release)

QuicKutz products:

Nesting Stars (2011 CHA summer release)

Nesting Scallop Rectangles (2011 CHA summer release)

Whirlpool Alphabet

Castle

DCWV Shimmer Mat Stack

I know that you will have a blast creating with these new dies whether you are in to scrapbooking or card making! They are also great for alternative paper crafts! Spellbinders designer Heidi Blankenship showed me how she used wool felt with the Edgeabilities at CHA! So fun! Now I have to get some of that and share the tip with you!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

DCWV And Graphic 45 CHA Booths!

Friday, July 22nd, 2011

I have been given the assignment of blogging about my favorite booth at CHA. It is really a tough decision because there were so many that were outstanding! So, I guess that I would have to tie Die Cuts With A View  and Graphic 45! Their booths were very different from each other, but both teams put tremendous effort into their booths to draw retailers and  spotlight their latest products. I was literally in awe of the inspiration that their design teams  shared with us!

DCWV was the first booth we saw, front and center, as we walked through the entrance! With their theme Christmas Morning, they captured my feelings as I viewed all the shiny new products in the convention center! It was like Christmas to me! All of their trees and presents were made from various paper pads, the cozy fire in the fireplace and living room setting, their prize buck mounted on the wall were  all made from their paper products!

I had the privilege of meeting several women on their team, including Erin who writes their Blog! They are all wonderful women and I had so much fun in their booth!

Can you see what I mean? So warm and cozy that I could   have sat in the rocking chair and taken a nice long nap!

Graphic 45 had decorated other elements that I have a passion for- antiques (or at least faux antiques) with their incredible paper lines!  Their team was delightful and dressed in costumes featuring The Magic of Oz release, with Diane dressing as Dorothy for their daily drawing, and the Wicked Witch the rest of the day. In my personal opinion, she is way to sweet to be the Wicked Witch and way to classy! They were so busy that I wasn’t able to snap any pictures of them alone!

What did I tell you? Both are just so impressive that I just could not make a decision on one! I hope that you have enjoyed seeing a peak of the show! The creative energy was flowing through Chicago for sure! Have a great weekend!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Where In CHA Is Tim Holtz?

Thursday, July 21st, 2011

We’re back from CHA and we had a fabulous time! We met with so many popular, innovative companies and saw so many wonderful things that our heads were swimming! Spellbinders, DCWV, Sizzix, QuicKutz, Graphic 45, and Heartfelt Creations to name a few.

We finally caught up with gifted designer Tim Holtz on the last day we were there! No matter where we had gone before, he was no where to be seen by us! We had passed his booth multiple times, but no Tim! Our last morning brought us luck! He was just cleaning up from a demo in the Sizzix booth, and I did not want to miss a prime opportunity! Ladies, eat your hearts out! I got my picture taken with scrapbooking celebrity Tim Holtz! (This is where we scream!) He was very gracious, especially when I know that I was not the only lucky gal there to be photo privileged.

He is simply amazing! I took a few shots of his displays to show you some of the projects that were done with his products.

If you look closely to the cards and other projects, you can see the Paper Rosette, Bigz Gadget Gears, Bigz Old Jalopy, Bigz Sewing Room, and Movers & Shapers Mini Gears. See how many more can you identify!

That is all for today! I will show you more tomorrow, I promise!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Heartfelt Creations made beautiful paper bouquets that look quite real!

We saw the new line of Nesting Dies from QuicKutz and Framelits from Sizzix. The new Nestaboard from Want2Scrap is HOT! Just Rite Stampers also has great  new stamp sets that coordinate with Spellbinders dies! Teresa Collins is not only talented, but stylish! We also visited My Mind’s Eye, Provo Craft and Silhouette .Everyone is on board and excited to bring you what’s new!

I hope that you have taken a few minutes to look at all the rest of the pre-order dies from Spellbinders that were made viewable this morning! Astounding!

This may be the best CHA release to date! Of course, since this is the first show that I have been to, it is the most exciting one for me! I am having a blast here in Chicago! It is most definitely a paper crafter’s heaven! Can’t wait until tomorrow for more exciting products from DCWV, Tim Holz, and anyone else that catches our eye!

Heartfelt Creations Wedding Collection!

Tuesday, June 21st, 2011

Okay ladies and gents, I finally had a chance to play with the new Heartfelt Creations Wedding Collection Stamp Sets! I just can’t get over the incredible detail that their artists put into them! They are so beautiful! These cling stamps are so easy to use with any acrylic block!

I am a bit behind in scrapbooking my daughter’s wedding, so I took the opportunity to use these gorgeous stamps to create a layout of her wedding day! I used Bella Rose Wedding, Wedding Sentiments and Bella Rose Heart. I cut the scalloped piece from the DCWV Linen Closet Paper Stack using my Sizzix Big Shot Pro Machine and the Bigz Pro Die Square Scallop.  The background piece is from DCWV Shimmer Paper Stack. To complete the ensemble, I used K & Company stickers, Want2Scrap Silver Baby Bling, heart rhinestones, paper doilies and a heart corner punch.

Now I can’t wait to use the other sets in the Wedding Collection! These really make fabulous embellishments for layouts as well as amazing bridal or wedding cards! Now is the perfect time to get yours, as summertime is the busiest time for weddings!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Scrapbook Layouts In Minutes!

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

DCWV has come to my rescue many times when I want to scrapbook, but just don’t have the time or brain function to create intricate layouts! I love their 12 x 12 Paper Stacks because you don’t have to use a lot of embellishments to make a beautiful layout. Their designers have done all the work for me! You can have a fabulous layout in no time at all!

Since we have a few of their Paper Stacks on special, I decided to show you a couple of layouts that only took minutes to put together, using the Endless Summer Paper Stack and The Premium Photo Paper Stack. Both of these are on special for $13.99.

On this first on with the paper from the Endless Summer, the only other thing I did was use mats from DCWV Glitter Cardstock Mat Stack and a corner punch!

For this next one all I did was  take a page from the Premium Photo Paper Stack, made a mat from card stock, cut a tag from the Spellbinders Fancy Tags Two and used the coordinating Want2Scrap Nestabling Fancy Tags Two BlackR!

So easy, but I love the effect! Some of us just can’t stress about the layouts, but want to get our pictures into the albums! DCWV helps with that, especially for beginner scrapbooker’s who don’t want to be overwhelmed with hundreds of products out there! Just start with paper!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Mothers Love Roses!

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

It is crunch time to get you gifts done for Mother’s Day if you haven’t already! Here’s an idea for a card box if your mom likes cards, but needs a place to store them, or you can fill the box with pre-made cards for her to use when needed! Of course I used roses, because that is what mom’s like! Right?

The paper I used for my tin box  is the Rustic Paper Stack from DCWV ( It is an exclusive to JoAnn Stores), and the Shimmer Stack for the roses. To cut the roses I used QuicKutz Roses die. Easy! I cut it out with my Cuttlebug Machine then rolled them up and glued them in place with some Zip Dry Paper Glue!

I used Spellbinders Lacey Ovals to cut a copper frame from the Precious Metals Premium Craft Foils, then topped with Classic Ovals Small stamped with a saying from Just Rite Stampers The Greatest Joy Borders & Centers Set! I finished it off with flowers from Petaloo Canterbury Collection Rose & Berries Branch and some ribbon!

This was a lot of fun! It took me a minute to practice making the roses with some regular paper, but found that the thicker card stock made it easier! Just roll it up with your fingers and let go for it to take shape, then glue it where you want it!

Have fun making your Mother’s Day projects!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas For The Paper Crafter!

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

Wow! Mother’s Day is right on our doorstep! Can you believe it? I can’t! I feel like we just barely had Easter…oh wait, we did! I don’t know about you, but I had better get crackin’ on a gift for Mom!

My mom is a scrapbooker, so she would like just about anything that has to do with scrapbooking! Why don’t you come shopping with me to see what I can find that would make great gifts for her special day!

She has tons of pictures to still put in albums as she has 10 children (I am the oldest) and 34 grandchildren, so I think I will start with the basics. Paper! She has 7 sons and lots of grandsons, so the All About Boys Paper Stack from DCWV or Alphabet Soup Boy from My Minds Eye are a great start for the boys! A Proper Gentleman 8×8 by Graphic 45 works well for all of her masculine photos.

For the feminine side, we will start with DCWV All About Girls Paper StackBlossoms and Butterflies Paper Stack, Garden Party Paper Stack, or Pocket Full of Posies Paper Stack to name just a few!

She has a Cuttlebug, and loves die cutting! Let’s move over to the dies to see what we can find! Spellbinders dies are always a perfect gift! She and I have very similar taste, so I think I will go with a couple of my favorites! Labels Twenty, Lacey Circles, Lacey Squares, Lacey Ovals (okay, so I like lacey!), Floral Doily Accents and Floral Doily Motifs as well as the Parisian Accents and Parisian Motifs! Well, that is more than a couple, but maybe we can keep some of these in mind for her birthday or Christmas! I could shop forever in Spellbinders!

She would love Quickutz Anime Monkey to scrap some of her younger grandchildren! Or the Mixing Bowl and Spoon for those moments making cookies with the grandkids!

Heartfelt Creations, Just Rite Stampers and Sparkle N Sprinkle all have stamps that are fabulous to give her or buy for myself to make her card with! They all have stamps that coordinate with Spellbinders dies! Want2Scrap has Nestabling to go with!

Whew! This shopping trip could last a long time if we got into the nitty-gritty of adhesives, embossing folders, foils, flowers, etc.! I think I will let you shop for yourselves now! I have a pretty good idea of what I will end up with! Have fun!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

I love DCWV paper for several reasons. Their use of color is very appealing to the eye, they have a variety of weight and texture, as well as themes!

I want to point out a few examples! As summer time is approaching Endless Summers 12 x 12 Paper Stack offers  vivid color pages (some glittered) perfect for vacation photos to the tropics, lazy days at the beach, travel, or play in the back yard pool!

Of course, there are countless opportunities for backyard bar-b-ques and pool parties with lots of food! Thus, we have The Snack Stack 12 x 12 paper stack! Yummy pages of brownies, gummy bears, cookies and popcorn, as well as healthier snacks like Kiwi, rasberries, and glittered cherries fill this stack for you to create memories of those special parties with family and friends!

If you are the outdoorsy type, then the gloss and glitter of the Premium Photo Stack will catch your eye! 12 x 12 pages filled with palm leaves, daisies, snow covered trees, water, clouds, you name it! There are even pages of diamond plate for you to mount your photos of that prize 4×4!

If wedding bells are ringing in your ears then the Luxury 2 paper stack has to be part of your scrapbook trousseau! Very Elegant, the rich pearl and metallic colors along with flourish and damask patterns make this a must have for those formal occasions coming up!

These are just a few suggestions to get you going for summer! With all the invitations for social events coming, the crafter inside still needs to take a few moments of quiet time to relax and create!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!
