Scrapbook Layouts In Minutes!

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

DCWV has come to my rescue many times when I want to scrapbook, but just don’t have the time or brain function to create intricate layouts! I love their 12 x 12 Paper Stacks because you don’t have to use a lot of embellishments to make a beautiful layout. Their designers have done all the work for me! You can have a fabulous layout in no time at all!

Since we have a few of their Paper Stacks on special, I decided to show you a couple of layouts that only took minutes to put together, using the Endless Summer Paper Stack and The Premium Photo Paper Stack. Both of these are on special for $13.99.

On this first on with the paper from the Endless Summer, the only other thing I did was use mats from DCWV Glitter Cardstock Mat Stack and a corner punch!

For this next one all I did was  take a page from the Premium Photo Paper Stack, made a mat from card stock, cut a tag from the Spellbinders Fancy Tags Two and used the coordinating Want2Scrap Nestabling Fancy Tags Two BlackR!

So easy, but I love the effect! Some of us just can’t stress about the layouts, but want to get our pictures into the albums! DCWV helps with that, especially for beginner scrapbooker’s who don’t want to be overwhelmed with hundreds of products out there! Just start with paper!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Wow! I can’t believe that it is already Friday! May is speeding by super fast! Of course, with all the cool, rainy weather we have had in Utah, it doesn’t feel like spring yet! That is a good thing when it comes to waiting  for the latest items that have been released this month! I  just want to stay inside where its warm and play with the latest stamp sets from Just Rite Stampers! They are amazing as usual!

The cards below are made using the Smile Set. You receive four 2″ design centers with four extra wide borders, for a total of 3 1/4″. You will need the 3 1/4″ Wood Stamper.

This stamp set coordinates with the Spellbinders Standard Circles Large, Classic Scalloped Circles Large, Classic Scalloped Circles Small, Big Scalloped Circles Large, and Big Scalloped Circles Small Nestabilities.

DCWV Natural Mat Stack, Natural Solid Cardstock Mat Stack, Just Rite Stampers Smile Set, Spellbinders Classic Circles Large, Want2Scrap Nestabling Heart Circles BrownR. Add a flower by Petaloo and some brass embellishments!

Spellbinders Labels Sixteen, Classic Circles Large, DCWV Linen Closet Mat Stack, Linen Closet Solid Cardstock Mat Stack, 1/8″ Scor-Tape, chalk and ribbon.

Making the perfect card is so easy with stamps! What in the world did we ever do without them? I think I have blanked that out on purpose because I don’t ever want to go back to life without them!

Have a great weekend!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Carrie

BTW- Sizzix wanted us to let you know, after seeing yesterday’s BLOG, that you can also make the Soda Can Hair Bows with the Bigz Dies in the Big Shot Machine! Good to know! Thanks for the tip!

Mothers Love Roses!

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

It is crunch time to get you gifts done for Mother’s Day if you haven’t already! Here’s an idea for a card box if your mom likes cards, but needs a place to store them, or you can fill the box with pre-made cards for her to use when needed! Of course I used roses, because that is what mom’s like! Right?

The paper I used for my tin box  is the Rustic Paper Stack from DCWV ( It is an exclusive to JoAnn Stores), and the Shimmer Stack for the roses. To cut the roses I used QuicKutz Roses die. Easy! I cut it out with my Cuttlebug Machine then rolled them up and glued them in place with some Zip Dry Paper Glue!

I used Spellbinders Lacey Ovals to cut a copper frame from the Precious Metals Premium Craft Foils, then topped with Classic Ovals Small stamped with a saying from Just Rite Stampers The Greatest Joy Borders & Centers Set! I finished it off with flowers from Petaloo Canterbury Collection Rose & Berries Branch and some ribbon!

This was a lot of fun! It took me a minute to practice making the roses with some regular paper, but found that the thicker card stock made it easier! Just roll it up with your fingers and let go for it to take shape, then glue it where you want it!

Have fun making your Mother’s Day projects!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas For The Paper Crafter!

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

Wow! Mother’s Day is right on our doorstep! Can you believe it? I can’t! I feel like we just barely had Easter…oh wait, we did! I don’t know about you, but I had better get crackin’ on a gift for Mom!

My mom is a scrapbooker, so she would like just about anything that has to do with scrapbooking! Why don’t you come shopping with me to see what I can find that would make great gifts for her special day!

She has tons of pictures to still put in albums as she has 10 children (I am the oldest) and 34 grandchildren, so I think I will start with the basics. Paper! She has 7 sons and lots of grandsons, so the All About Boys Paper Stack from DCWV or Alphabet Soup Boy from My Minds Eye are a great start for the boys! A Proper Gentleman 8×8 by Graphic 45 works well for all of her masculine photos.

For the feminine side, we will start with DCWV All About Girls Paper StackBlossoms and Butterflies Paper Stack, Garden Party Paper Stack, or Pocket Full of Posies Paper Stack to name just a few!

She has a Cuttlebug, and loves die cutting! Let’s move over to the dies to see what we can find! Spellbinders dies are always a perfect gift! She and I have very similar taste, so I think I will go with a couple of my favorites! Labels Twenty, Lacey Circles, Lacey Squares, Lacey Ovals (okay, so I like lacey!), Floral Doily Accents and Floral Doily Motifs as well as the Parisian Accents and Parisian Motifs! Well, that is more than a couple, but maybe we can keep some of these in mind for her birthday or Christmas! I could shop forever in Spellbinders!

She would love Quickutz Anime Monkey to scrap some of her younger grandchildren! Or the Mixing Bowl and Spoon for those moments making cookies with the grandkids!

Heartfelt Creations, Just Rite Stampers and Sparkle N Sprinkle all have stamps that are fabulous to give her or buy for myself to make her card with! They all have stamps that coordinate with Spellbinders dies! Want2Scrap has Nestabling to go with!

Whew! This shopping trip could last a long time if we got into the nitty-gritty of adhesives, embossing folders, foils, flowers, etc.! I think I will let you shop for yourselves now! I have a pretty good idea of what I will end up with! Have fun!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Die Cuts With A View Paper Frenzie!

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

Paper, paper and more paper! It is the foundation of Paper Crafting, right? Right! We have to have paper before we can do anything else in our chosen hobby! Die Cuts With A View is constantly producing enticing Paper stacks, Mat Stacks and Cardstock Stacks to suite our individual and unique needs! They are in the business to bring us the essentials of our trade!

I love DCWV paper for several reasons. Their use of color is very appealing to the eye, they have a variety of weight and texture, as well as themes!

I want to point out a few examples! As summer time is approaching Endless Summers 12 x 12 Paper Stack offers  vivid color pages (some glittered) perfect for vacation photos to the tropics, lazy days at the beach, travel, or play in the back yard pool!

Of course, there are countless opportunities for backyard bar-b-ques and pool parties with lots of food! Thus, we have The Snack Stack 12 x 12 paper stack! Yummy pages of brownies, gummy bears, cookies and popcorn, as well as healthier snacks like Kiwi, rasberries, and glittered cherries fill this stack for you to create memories of those special parties with family and friends!

If you are the outdoorsy type, then the gloss and glitter of the Premium Photo Stack will catch your eye! 12 x 12 pages filled with palm leaves, daisies, snow covered trees, water, clouds, you name it! There are even pages of diamond plate for you to mount your photos of that prize 4×4!

If wedding bells are ringing in your ears then the Luxury 2 paper stack has to be part of your scrapbook trousseau! Very Elegant, the rich pearl and metallic colors along with flourish and damask patterns make this a must have for those formal occasions coming up!

These are just a few suggestions to get you going for summer! With all the invitations for social events coming, the crafter inside still needs to take a few moments of quiet time to relax and create!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

New QuicKutz Whirlpool Alphabet!

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

Today I want to show you the adorable new QuicKutz Whirlpool Alphabet! I have a weakness for swirls! The more swirly the better as far as I am concerned! This alphabet is so dang cute! You get 65 dies in upper and lower case letters, numbers and punctuation! The letters are approximately 1″ tall and come in strands held together with the tiny tabs that I mentioned yesterday with the Blue Sky Alphabet. This is the same with the new Carousel and Handmade Alphabets. I used my Cuttlebug with my extended 6 x 13″ Cutting Mats to cut a bunch out at once!

There are so many ways you can use this on both cards and layouts! Spring, Summer, Water play, Easter, oh goodness, you name it! I can’t wait to get some spring pictures of my granddaughter with flowers to use it with! I happen to think that flowers and swirls naturally go together.  I also think that swirls go with water, and considering the name of this alphabet, I thought it appropriate to use it on my layout of our dive trip to Sand Hollow with my brother-in-law.

My supplies consisted of the following:

Bazzill Cardstock, pattern paper, Fiskers Wave Border Punch, 3L Scrapbook Adhesives EZ-Runner (can’t live without it!), Spellbinders Reverse Wonky Rectangles, Anchor and Fin Eyelets, DCWV Shimmer Mat Stack and QuicKutz Whirlpool Alphabet.

I’m sure that you can think of a million ideas that you can use this alphabet on! Fun stuff!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Just Arrived, New Sparkle N Sprinkle Stamps!

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

I may be repeating myself, but have I told you how much fun it is to introduce a new product? It is like Christmas for me when we get new product lines in! I love it! It is so much fun to open up a plain brown box and find shiny new packaging wrapped around new product! It was just like that when we opened up our shipment of the brand new Sparkle N Sprinkle Stamps! I felt like a kid opening a new baby doll Christmas morning!

These stamps are foam backed and require an acrylic block to use. They coordinate with many of the  Spellbinders dies! We have listed the coordinating dies on our website in the details of each stamp set. I actually used a few different dies than were listed on our website, so you can experiment with other dies as well!

The first three projects show here are from Sparkle N Sprinkle designers Barbara Bruder and Donna Maligno. A huge Thank you to them for sending these to us!

I did a bit of playing myself and came up with the following cards using the Thanks A Bunch Stamp Set, which I love the multiple font thank yous! I used the following items for these projects:

DCWV Linen Closet Mat Stack, Natural Mat Stack, Natural Solid Cardstock Stack, Bazzill Cardstock, copper hardware, Versa Marker, Spellbinders Creative Book Pages, Grand LabelsEleven, Labels Eighteen and Beaded Squares.

I had a lot of fun with these sentiment cards! You will too! These are great stamps to work with!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Just Rite Stampers New Releases Are In!

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

It always amazes me when we receive new product like the new Just Rite Stampers new stamp sets! The designs just keep getting better and better! Their ideas and talent entice us to break our resolve of “not spending another dime on our hobby until we’ve used what we already have”! How can we stay away? WE CAN’T! Of coarse, we never really were committed to that stupid resolve anyway! There are just to many wonderful new products coming out that inspire our creativity!

The latest from Just Rite include Charmed, Birdhouses, Heart to Heart, Hugs to You, and more, including Elegant Frames and Birthday Celebrations which I used on the projects below. These stamp sets coordinate with Spellbinders dies to create a fabulous stamped image!

For more info on what stamp sets go with what dies, we have Just Rite and Spellbinders Compatibility Charts on our BLOG page that will help you! I just love compatibility charts! They are so helpful!

Now on to our projects for the day!

As mentioned, I used the Birthday Celebrations for this first example. I used markers to color the image, then cut it out using a template from Spellbinders Standard Circles #6 die. I placed it over the #4 die from the Eyelet Circles set cut from the DCWV Whimsy Mat Stack which is also what I used for the rest of the card. I applied 1/8″ Scor-Tape around the circle and between patterns on the card and applied puckered 1/4″ ribbon.  If I had a brain last night (which I didn’t) I would have run the ribbon through my sewing machine to gather it instead of painstakingly doing it by hand! DUH!

Since I was brainless for the first card, I was not going to complicate the second! I wanted something a bit more masculine, so I went with paper from the Natural Mat Stack and Natural Solid Cardstock Mat Stack. I used the Elegant Frames Stamp Set which coordinates with Spellbinders Labels Ten. I then put it on a frame from the Labels Seventeen. Done!

And there you have it! They work great with their coordinating die!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

New Spellbinder’s CHA Releases Have Arrived!

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

Yippee! The moment we’ve all been waiting for! Spellbinder’s CHA releases have arrived and we are racing to get all of the Pre-Orders shipped! As soon as we have pre-orders filled we will remove them from pre-order status so the coupon can be used! Hallelujah! We are so excited! They are all so beautiful! If you have ordered on a Pre-Order, be watching your email for shipping notification and then your mail box! They are on their way!

I did this layout using the fun new Sprightly Sprockets! My nephew loves to build, and he helped his dad build this tower for his dad’s school class. Pretty cool!

I used DCWV All About Boys 12×12 Paper Stack, some Spellbinders Premium Craft Foil for my photo robot’s eyes and antennas and Boss Kut Hobby Horse Alphabet for my title! My track is just red twine wrapped twice around the sprockets using 1/8″ Scor-Tape to secure it.

These new dies are going fast! We have already been informed by Spellbinders that once the first shipment is sold out, the next shipment won’t be coming until mid April! The sooner you order, the better!

Remember, we fill orders in the order in which they arrive!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

New Sizzix Texured Embossing Folders Have Arrived!

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

We are so excited to have received the new Sizzix Textured Embossing Folders! We Oooed and Ahhhed over them while deciding which were our favorites! Now, I can tell you, that was hard! They are all gorgeous!

I love the embossing folders for making quick cards! You are probably starting to realize that I am all about quick! Sometimes I feel like the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, always in a hurry because I might be late! Needless to say that quick works best for me! You will most likely see quick ideas from me on our BLOG because that is what I do best! (Or at least have time for)

For this card I used the damask folder from the Corners & Damask Set. I ran white card stock through my Cuttlebug Machine then ran a Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink all over the top, which helped bring out the design. The pattern strip is from Basic Grey’s Hello Luscious 6×6 Paper Pad with a strip of ribbon. I used 1″ Scor-Tape to adhere the strip and 1/2″ Scor-Tape to apply the ribbon. The tag is made from Spellbinder’s new CHA release Grommet Tags.

Using the corners folder of the Corners & Damask and both the DCWV Luxury Mat Stack and Linen Closet Solid Mat Stack, I made a quick wedding card! I finished it off with Spellbinder’s CHA Fancy Tags Two and Basic Grey’s Opaline Half Pearls!

For this next card I used a card from DCWV Latte Box of Cards and embossed the front with one of the Country & Flowering Foliage Set, the ran the card stock strip through with the other folder in the same set. I used another new CHA release, Labels Eighteen #3 die for the stamped greeting.

Last of all, I simply used two of the four folders in the Butterfly Migration Set for a simple, yet pretty “Thinking of You” card! I used a dauber to dab ink around the edges of the greeting and on the butterflies to create contrast to the rest of the card. 5 minutes tops!

I hope these give you an idea of how pretty these new Sizzix Embossing Folders are!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Card Embellishments In A Snap!

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Wedding?  Shower? Birthday? Doesn’t matter, I always think of needing a card at the very last minute! I am notorious at my house of forgetting the cards! Are any of you the same way? Well, those of you who are card makers probably aren’t, but I am more of a scrapbooker than a card maker, so I don’t always have a card on hand for any occasion!

I decided that, for me, it is a good idea to have some pre-made cards on hand that I can add an embellishment or two in a hurry and go! Die Cuts With A View’s Box of Cards collection is a winner! They have a very nice assortment per box to choose from, add embellishments (or not) and have an original card to give in minutes!  I could add a specific title  or stamped label to spruce it up a bit more, but I am still done in no time at all!

For my examples I used cards from Latte, La Creme, Citrus and Street Lace! My embellishments were Petaloo Dazzlers, Petaloo Celebrations, Embellishments by Petaloo, and Metal Staples from Graphic 45!

So, there you have it! Quick and easy card embellishments in a snap!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

New DCWV Cotton Bloom Paper Stack!

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Have I mentioned lately how much I love DCWV Paper Stacks? Well, I do! Of coarse, I don’t know if I have also mentioned that I am just a plain ol’ paper junkie! I love, love, love paper! Even as a kid I had an obsession for pretty stationery and note pads! I know from talking to many of you that there are those who share my obsession! Paper is a staple! You have to have it!

Over the weekend I got to play with DCWV Cotton Bloom Paper Stack! Oh, so cute!!! I had a blast! The hardest part was trying to figure out which pattern to use! It was hard to decide! The whole stack is great!

For my “Family” page I used two of the Grand Labels Eleven (Pre-order item due in March!) for my picture mats. My flowers were made with the Floral Doily Motifs (this has arrived and is in stock, and you can now use your coupon on this item!). I used 1″ Scor-Tape to apply my ribbon and flowers. (Have I told you how much I love Scor-Tape? I believe it was inspired just for those of us that like to use ribbon!)

For my Tiny Bubbles Layout I used a QuicKutz Circles Embossing Folder to make the bubble background for my title. For those of you who have never used these, QuicKutz Ebossing Folders are very similar and work the same as Provo Craft’s Cuttlebug embossing folders. My title is cut from QuicKutz Winter Wishes Holiday Gift Set with QuicKutz RS-0099 Bubbles 2×2 die.

As you can see, the paper in this stack is adorable! I hope you enjoy it too!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

We’re Introducing JustRite Stampers!

Friday, February 11th, 2011

For all of you who are stampers, or who would like to be stampers, we would like to bring to your attention JustRite Stampers! I think you will be very  impressed with their products!I know that I am!

Now, I will admit that I have dabbled with stamps here and there, but never really knew what to do with them, so they have been a tiny bit intimidating! Since bringing on a couple of stamp companies, I am finding that I really want to do more with stamps! There are so many beautiful stamps out there!

For starters, JustRite are grooved on the back of the stamps which fit perfectly into the grooved surface of their coordinating stampers! This is great since you can mix and match borders, centers and fonts and they will match up perfectly to make your stamp unique to its purpose!

They offer wood stampers in different sizes, as well as clear stampers, which help you to see exactly where you want to place your image or sentiment. They also coordinate with some Spellbinder dies, Marvy Uchida Clever Lever Punches and even a few EK Success and Stampin’ Up punches!

They also offer a line of Cling Stamps and acrylic blocks that you can mix and match also!Mix and match with a variety of themes, verses, sentiments and alphabets!

I did a little playing last night with the JustRite Stamps to show you some examples.

For my chocolate kiss vase I used JB-09500 1 5/8″ Clear Stamper with the JB-09720 Romantic Sentiments Centers for the flower centers. For the main center I used my I-Top Tool and a large Brad-Daddy. The flowers are Petaloo- Love You  Flora Doodles. I placed the main flower on a back made from S5-027 Labels Twenty One, which I cut out on my Cuttlebug.

My card was as easy as can be! I stamped two images using the Cling Stamps CL-02075 You Inspire Me in two different shades of blue, punched the bottom with a scalloped punch, cut by hand the top image then used adhesive foam to stack them. The center was stamped and punched with  a circle punch. I used Martha Stewart border punches for the edges.

Of course I have to do a scrapbook page, so I started with paper from DCWV Nana’s Nursery 12 x 12 paper stack. The stamps are from JB-09265 The Greatest Joy Set. I used #4 die from Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large, then #4 die of Classic Scalloped Ovals Large and #4 Beaded Ovals die. The butterfly is from the new Fanciful Flight Set ( I love this set!) and Petaloo Love You Flora Doodles.

You’ve really got to give these stamps a try! They are great to use! Easy clean-up too! I’m sure that you will come up with some great projects!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Bling From Want2Scrap!

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

Last week I showed you all the Nestabling from Want2Scrap. Today I want to show you examples of their fabulous line of Rhinestone Gems and Pearls! Individually self adhesive,  you don’t need to break them off of a strip just to use one or two for a project! There are a variety of colors to choose from, with 72 Rhinestones or Pearls per sheet! The Baby Bling contains 100 pieces per package!

For my greeting card, I used pattern paper from the DCWV Luxury Mat Stack for my card front, the rose, leaves and tag.  The rose and leaves are made with S5-050 Rose Creations. The tag is #1 of S4-317 Fleur De Lis Rectangles.  I molded and  inked the edges of my rose petals with ink, then put them all together with a brad before putting one of the large 2226 Pink Pearls on top of the brad. I used all sizes on two corners with the smallest pearls placed along the swirls of the paper. It is easier to place the small pearls with a pair of craft tweezers, but it is not necessary.

For my A2 card I used S5-025 Labels Seventeen die #6 for the white background. The #4 die from S4-316 Heart Circles, then cut my picture out with #6 die from S4-114 Standard Circles Large to place in the center. I inked around the card and hearts, then used 6244 Red Baby Bling to spruce it up! Baby Bling also comes in a variety of colors!

I recommend using craft tweezers for sure with the Baby Bling! They are so cute, but very tiny!

If you enjoy bling, then Want2Scrap has something for you! We also have Bling Strips, Brackets and Swirls! We are still adding this product line to our website, so keep watching over the next week or so!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!
