A Romantic Occasion Card Idea Using Sizzix!
Thursday, May 16th, 2013

I came across this beautiful and old picture of my mom and me and my brothers and I thought this would make a great Mothers day Page Layout. My father served in the Military my whole childhood so I had the privilege to grow up overseas. This picture, I believe was taken in Europe, and so I wanted to use some products that would bring back some of those memories from my childhood. First Edition has this beautiful paper collection called Noir et Chic and it went perfectly with this black and white photo. I also used KaiserCraft collectables called 75 cents and it is a really fun and unique die cut shapes with warm colors and that European feel is was looking for. I used my Sizzix Big Shot machine to cut my QuicKutz die called Nesting Flowers, to frame around my picture. I also used, as always, some bling from Want2Scrap and Hero Hues Chalk Ink to finish off my look for my layout. I showed my mother and her reaction was perfect, I got a huge OMG! that was all I needed to hear to know that she loved this layout and that it brought all the feelings and memories to her that I was trying to capture. Happy Mothers Day mom, and I love you!!

I love making things to give away and this mini petal Easter basket is a quick and easy little gift for co-workers, friends and family members! My kids are all grown now, and they are all “watching what they eat”, so I thought this would be a perfect size to give each of them for just a little treat this Easter. Definitely not enough to ruin their healthy living lifestyle, but enough to satisfy their sweet tooth!

This project was easy. I actually ran it through my Sizzix Big Shot Pro machine just because I wanted to use a 12 x 12 piece of paper, so I could fit 2 baskets per sheet, but this die will work in most of the manual die cutting machines, if the opening is approximately 6″ wide, such as the Cuttlebug or Big Shot machines. All the folds lines are made when the die is cut, so it is easy to crease. All you have to do is glue the tabs.
The handle was cut from the left over paper with my paper cutter to approx. 3/4″ wide and glued on the inside. I added the flower on the side and filled it will a bit of Easter grass and candy! So simple! Of course, you could use this for parties, bridal showers or other occasions with or without a handle!
All you need is:
Heavy paper or cardstock. I used First Edition Spring Drop 12 x 12 Paper Stack, but any will do.
Adhesive
DC0243 Quickutz Petal Container
DR0295 Quickutz Bloom
Button
Die Cutting Machine (click HERE to see all that we have available)
Have a very Happy Easter!
Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Today is officially the first day of Spring and everyone is looking forward to Easter next weekend, so I thought I would show you a couple Easter treat boxes that I made using my Sizzix Big Shot Pro and Bigz Pro Dies. These are so incredibly easy, they literally only take a few minutes to make!
This first box is one I showed you at Christmas time, but change your paper and voila…you have an Easter box! One sheet of pattern paper (I like double sided for a prettier project), add labels, fill with treats, tie the ends with some ribbon and you are finished!

Products used:
656250 Sizzix Big Shot Pro
657158 Sizzix Bigz Pro Die Box Candy Shaped
SEA026 Authentique Spring Collection Kit 12×12
Adhesive
Ribbon
Does this next box look familiar? Of course it does! You dig your hands into one every time you go to the movies! I transformed a popcorn box into a Easter basket box! I could have added a handle, but it’s going to my little grand kids and will be destroyed within minuets, so why bother! This die does require 2 sheets of heavy paper or cardstock. Light weight paper can be used, but does not hold the shape as well.

Products used:
656250 Sizzix Big Shot Pro machine
657154 Sizzix Bigz Pro Die Box Popcorn #2
First Edition Spring Drop 12×12
DC0230 QuicKutz Labels
stamped sentiment
adhesive
ribbon
Seriously, these were so easy and fun! Great for neighbors, co-workers, friends, family and of course KIDS!
Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

If you’re in the market for some ADORABLE baby paper, look at the First Edition Animal Antics paper for your next layout! I looked at the pictures of the paper before I got it and I was instantly excited to get to work. I love paper that is so cute that you don’t have to do much to make it darling. This is exactly how this paper is. It is a great gender neutral paper as well, so you could use it for any beautiful new addition to your family. Honestly, First Edition makes the cutest paper on the block, so any of them will steal your heart away!
Seriously, the paper does all the work here, but having a couple of dies or stamps doesn’t hurt, does it?
I used the JustRite Ornate Happiness Squares for the stamps in the circles. They are beautiful and would fit any layout or card you’re currently making. I also love the Hero Arts “a little note” stamp I used and cut out. Add a little color with some coloring pencils and it’s adorably tied in.

Here are some last minute Valentine’s box ideas if you have put off helping your kids put theirs together until now. Our kids usually make theirs at school but this year I guess we missed the memo so they both came home yesterday and told us that they need them by Thursday. They were a lot of fun once we got started and our kids had so much fun helping glue everything together. Our kids decided that they wanted Valentines monsters so for the dragon we just used an old soda box and covered it in green paper, the face went on next (I love the expression on this one, it makes me laugh) and for the finishing touch we used QuicKutz Bow Tie and glitter.
Next was the butterfly. This one used hearts for the wings and an old CD for the head. Trista used a lot of stickers that came in the Authentique’s Lovely collection which if you haven’t looked at it it is a great collection if you have a lot of Valentines Day photos because you could put together a lot of layouts in a short period of time with it. The again we used the bow tie as her bow on her head.
Again if you are pressed for time try these out, from start to finish these only took a few hours for the pair of them.

I don’t know if you are anything like us but we have a lot of decorations for most holidays but not Valentines Day so Heather decided that we needed some things to put up around the house. First Editions Blank Canvas paper set a really nice base for each wall hanging and Authentiques Lovely Collection sticker set made it a lot of fun designing. I had to laugh because Heather, as she was sticking on all of the stickers, was having so much fun. Scrapbooking/crafting is so much fun when it is easy and you get such good results. I love products that make working fun!
I asked Heather why she didn’t put any pictures of us on them and she told me that we don’t have any pictures of Valentines Day so I guess we will have to remember to take some pictures this year. I don’t know why this holiday always gets overlooked but I guess that we will need to snap a few photos this February 14. Our kids are really excited that we have something on the wall that helps get the “Lovely” feeling in the house. I do enjoy seeing the excitement on our kids faces as they make their valentines boxes and come home with valentines from all their friends at school. These stickers and paper could really make some fun valentines cards for the kids to bring for their extra special friends!
So get out there and be creative this valentines Day!

If you are in the market looking for new paper, look no further! The First Edition Hideaway Paper is just the thing you’re needing for some fresh, new ideas! If I could cover my house in this gorgeous paper pad, I would….and I’m only sort of kidding on that one. Seriously though, this paper is beautiful! It’s got glitter, texture, cute patterns, and it harbors beautiful ideas the minute you set eyes on it.
I’ve used the 6X6 paper pad, but rest assured that I will be getting the 12X12 on the blog in the future. I wanted to make some fun and gorgeous cards, so the 6X6 is perfect. To be honest, I love it when paper has it all and the “embellishments” aren’t the thing that makes it beautiful…it’s the paper all the way!
I made a birthday card for a friend last minute! I found out it was her birthday…on her birthday, whipped this out and delivered it within 30 minutes. First off, the new Spellbinders are a perfect match for this paper! I went crazy with the Pinwheel Delight and loved every second of using these adorable cut, fold and tuck dies. They are so easy to use and they look very impressive (my husband even said, “Hey, I found this really cool flower thing on the floor”).
Second, I wanted to use my new Big Words stamps from Hero Arts. I got these stamps with card-making in mind and they don’t disappoint. They are so cute and versatile. The Tim Holtz Distress Ink I used is perfect and matches so wonderfully. It’s always so nice to have your ink match so many styles! Go crazy and have fun!
Products used:
FEPAD021 – First Edition Hideaway 6×6 paper pad
CG445 – Hero Arts Big Words Stamps
Happy Birthday stamp
S6-005 – Spellbinders5X7 Elegant Labels 4
S5-176 – Spellbinders A2 Floral Ribbon Threader

Tim34940 – Tim Holtz Distress Ink Squeezed Lemonade
Tim32830 - Tim Holtz Distress Ink Ripe Persimmon

Enjoy this beautiful paper! I know every card you make will be gorgeous and friends will love it!

This Want2Scrap Polkadot Booklet Album is adorable to boot! I got it out thinking that it would probably take me forever to get it finished, but I was done in just a few hours. I couldn’t put it down! When I started, I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to make it into. Ideas ranged from a Valentine’s Day book for my husband of things I love about him, a note pad for my daughter to draw in, and finally settled on a princess book. Wanna know the great news? She LOVES it! She’s always asking me, “Mom, where’s my new princess book?” When I get it out for her she oo’s and aw’s at all of the pictures of “Princess Claire”. Too bad I can’t wait a single day to give presents or else I would have given it to her for Valentine’s Day. Sigh…maybe next time.
I knew exactly which pictures I was using, which made it easier. I took Claire on a “Princess Week” outing two years ago (which I would recommend to anyone with a daughter), where we chose a character and lived a day in her life. So, to get started on your book, all you have to do is gather your pictures, your paper, and the embellishments you’d like to use. Then, just cut and paste! So easy and fun.
Without further adieu: The Princess Book
Since I didn’t want to cut out little individual holes for the cover and I didn’t have any spray paint, I used a stamp pad. It worked better than I expected actually! I chose a light pink and just blotted the ink pad all over the chipboard until it covered it like I wanted it to. MUCH faster than cutting holes!
With my chipboard embellishments I sort of did the same thing that I did with the cover. This time, however, I used acrylic paint to get them white and then I used a stamp pad for the color. As for the pages, just cut out a 5×7 piece of paper, trace the holes and cut them out, glue, and trim the edges. Super easy! I used A LOT of Want2Scrap embellishments and I think it makes ALL the difference!
This really is too fun to make! I can’t wait to make another album and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Here is a cute butterfly scrapbook spread using Spellbinders Butterfly Corner die cut. I just love die cut sets that you can use almost exclusively to create a whole layout with. This set comes with three different sized butterflies, an ornate corner, and a decorative tag. All you have to do is pick out paper to match your pictures and cut and paste. Look how cute, we just received a few new die cuts and this was one that was at the top of the list to try out first.
These pictures are of our “little” Trista a few years ago. She just hit a growth spurt and it is a little sad to look back and see how fast she is growing up. We mark each of our kids height on their door frames and she has grown about 2 ½ inches in about 5 ½ months. Anyone out there know how to stop these kids from growing up so fast?
This layout is perfect for any of your little cuties or special occasions, give it a try.

Yesterday I gave some tips on getting started in, what I believe, is one of the most fabulous hobbies to be in existence, so I wanted to follow up with an easy Christmas scrapbook layout to show that keeping it simple is fun, creative and attractive!
In case you are wondering, the photo is in fact from last year because, like most people, I am NOT caught up on my scrapbooks, and will likely NEVER be, because I am shutter happy with my camera! I look at it this way- scrapbooks are a work in progress. Enjoy the process! Not every photo has to be “scrapbooked” either. There are divided photo sleeves on the market to include photos that you may not want to actually scrapbook, but want to include in your albums, which make the process a ton easier!

First Car Layout
I used a variety of products on this layout. I enjoy using different manufacturers products together!
Here’s my list:
FEPAD07-First Edition Christmas Village 12×12 Paper Pad
DC0383- Quickutz Snowflake Punches
DC0180-Quickutz Nesting Frame 7
DA0081-Quickutz Handmade Alphabet
EG-003-Spellbinders M-Bossabilities Garden Lattice (This is a grand size of 8 3/4 x 11 3/4″ which requires the Grand Calibur machine.)
658181-Sizzix Tree & Snowflake
multi-colored rhinestones
Bazzil cardstock
adhesive
GC-001-Spellbinders Grand Calibur machine
This was really easy and only took aprox. an hour or so to complete! If my rhinestones would have been self adhesive, it would have taken less time, so if you have the self sticking kind, go for those!
I hope this will inspire to you to take some time during the holidays and cold evenings to start on those photos! Your family will love going through the memories later!
Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Don’t we all agree that First Edition has the most beautiful paper? Well, if you don’t have a strong opinion on the matter, make your way over to the First Edition page and scroll through! You’ll certainly fall in love at least 4 times, I guarantee it. The First Edition Christmas Village paper is absolutely gorgeous and a must-have to scrapbook those holiday pictures your about to take in just 7 days!
With the holiday season winding down, I’m a little strapped for time on my neighbor gifts, so I’m so glad I have this beautiful paper to help me out! I needed something and I needed it fast! I rounded up my cricut and got to work. If you make boxes at anytime, the best thing to add to your collection is a handy, dandy Scor-Pal! It takes the guessing out of the folding. So nice!
This little puppy takes about 5 minutes to whip up! Think of all the possibilities! So cute! I’m going to fill my little tree boxes with fun little treats and hand them out at my piano recital and to my lovely neighbors. Have fun with the season of giving!!

If you still looking for personalized gifts for people on your gift list, but your budget getting low, I have an easy photo frame gift idea to share that you can adapt, using what you have on hand in your own scrappbook supplies! All you may need to purchase is a wood frame, but you can also adapt any frame you have laying around. It is up to your own imagination!

If you want to copy this one, here are the supplies you will need:
Wood frame
FEPAD035-First Edition Isabelle 12×12 Paper Pads
S2-009-Spellbinders Fantastic Flourish Two
F-012-Spellbinders Precious Metals Craft Foil
3177-Want2Scrap Chipboard Sentiments Moments (See HERE for all Chipboard Sentiments)
TIM32823- Tim Holtz Distressed Ink Gathered Twigs (See HERE for more Distressed Inks)
white paint
Mod Podge
sponge brushes
Clear liquid glue (I used Tombo)
Die Cutting machine
1.Sand rough areas of the frame until smooth, wipe clean. Paint around edges and back of frame.
2.Trace and cut paper to fit front of frame (trace on the back of the paper so your frame will sit on the paper exactly as it will be once done).
3. Mod Podge front of frame and place paper on top while wet. Make sure the paper is smooth with no bubbles, but don’t wipe hard on the paper as it could stretch when wet. Let dry. Put one coat on top to seal. Let dry.
4. Stain chipboard sentiment with Distress Ink.
5. Cut flourishes out of foil. I find it easier to remove the foil from the die by using wax paper between the two, but I use scotch tape to hold the die in place as the wax paper causes it to slide while cutting if not fixed in place.
6. Adhere flourishes and sentiment to frame with clear liquid adhesive.
You now have a beautiful frame!
Change the paper and embellishments for a variety of personalized photo frames! These are easy, but make very special gifts for those on your gift list!
Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

It is official, our house is decorated and these gift decorations made with a couple 2×4′s and some Christmas paper from Teresa Collins and First Edition really brought the spirit of Christmas into our house. I hope that all of you Black Friday shoppers survived this morning, Heather and I stayed home and got all of our decorating all up instead. It is always so much fun to put up new decorations and this year we have quite a few as we do something new each week so that we can blog about it. This one couldn’t be easier, just go out in your garage and cut down some 2×4′s and lightly sand them (or do what Heather did and have your husband do that part). Next, paint each piece whatever color you want and mod podge the paper on. Last, just glue the pieces together and tie a ribbon around them and there you have it, finished.
Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving! Try some of these crafting ideas to give your home a fresh look this Christmas.
