Spellbinders Edgeabilities and Grand Nestabilities Dies!

Friday, December 23rd, 2011

For the last blog post before we break for the Christmas holiday, I want to show you my take of the Gratitude Journal that Spellbinders designer Holly Simoni made a while back. Thank you Holly for your inspiration! Instead of a gratitude journal, I decided to make a notebook that my great uncle could jot down stories from his life to pass on to our posterity, since he has no posterity of his own.  Out came my Spellbinders Edgeabilities and Grand Nestabilities dies to help me!

Product recipe:

E8-002 Classic Bracket

LF-168 Grand Large Labels

LF-190 Grand Labels Four

S5-074 Retro Mod Clocks

Quickutz DA0235 Lemon Drop Alphabet (pretty nice that all of the letters are on one 4×4″ die!)

cardstock

composition notebook

Metal photo corners

I am officially finished with all my Christmas gifts! This was one of those last minute, I should do this, projects. Now, let’s just hope that he will cooperate and write in it! With that done I can now breath easy and enjoy the rest of today, do a little baking tomorrow, then enjoy my time with my family as I hope you can do! Note to self-Charge camera batteries!

Merry Christmas and Happy Scrappin’!

More Fun With Want2Scrap Grand Albums!

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

I’m telling you all right now that I have had more fun making mini albums with the Want2Scrap Grand Albums! I finished my great uncles gift last night (cheer!) and I think he will be pretty pleased with it. I know I am!

I used 9513-Grand Album Scalloped Rectangles for this one. It was big enough to accommodate the 4×6 photos that I had.

Product list:

Spellbinders -LF-133 Grand Scalloped Rectangles

S5-042 Fleur de Lis Accents

S4-324 Ribbon Banners

S5-058 Ironwork Accents

DA0235 Lemon Drop Alphabet

4×8-BANANA-S Banana split 4×8 Alphabet

This was a lot of fun because I got the pictures from my mom and I had not seen some of them before! My sweet, spunky grandmother is the brunette sister and my mom is the blond niece on the left, so it was even more special for me to have 3 generations of my family tree in this project!

**I would like to include a note about shipping today. For those who are waiting for packages to arrive, this may help answer some of your questions! This was a notice sent to me this morning and I would like to share it with all of you!

USA ORDERS. You should see your item soon…..but please understand that we do not “control” the US Postal Service. I wish we could!! LOL!!! Once we ship your order, you and I have to rely on the Postal Service to deliver the package in a timely manner, and they can be rather erratic at times to say the least as I’m sure you know. We have seen tremendous differences in package travel times for some reason. You could receive your package in 2 days, or it could take 2 weeks. I really don’t understand why this happens, but again, it is something we have no control over. Average travel time runs 4-8 days, but from time to time, a package might take 2 weeks. I thank you for understanding.

****** INTERNATIONAL ORDERS ******
****** VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!! ******

Travel time on International orders can take up to 6 WEEKS to arrive. It averages 20-30 days, with some packages arriving faster than that, but 35+ day travel time is VERY common and quite normal, and can even be a bit longer if the package is held up in the Customs Department in your country waiting to be cleared for delivery.

The countries that take the longest are….

BRAZIL (30-40 days)

ITALY (35-45 days)

GERMANY (25-35 days)

AUSTRALIA (30-40 days of late. The reason why is because there was a major software crash at the Australian Customs Department. In the words of the Customs Department there, it has created “10 weeks of chaos” and is causing HUGE delays in travel time)

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Thursday, December 15th, 2011

A while back I mentioned my great idea of giving my mother-in-law and great uncle mini albums made from Want2Scrap Grand Albums for Christmas. Well, I actually have my mother-in law’s finished (finally) and I wanted to show it to you! My great uncle’s is still in the works. I don’t have to have his done as soon.

This was so much fun to do! I know my mother-in-law will love it. She lives several hours away and we don’t get to see her as much as we would like to, so she really appreciates the pictures. She especially appreciates them already organized since she does not scrapbook what so ever!

I hope that you are all wrapping up your Christmas gifts as we only have 10 shopping days left including today!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

It Kits From Quickutz!

Friday, December 2nd, 2011

I am having a ball with the latest dies from Quickutz! What are It Kits you ask? It Kits are great for beginning and lifetime crafters alike. Their versatile designs allow you to used them in every season and for every kind of project. Use them to create tags, cards, party and wedding details, scrapbook pages, school projects, journals, home decor, and so much more! It Kits also include digital cutting files, so you can cut out the same shapes with a digital cutting machine!

For the following projects I mainly used the Edge It Kit, but I included a piece from the Tag It Kit on my candle.

My first project uses the Edge it Kit on a couple of my letters in my Family wood letter set.  Cut out of paper and adhere it to the letter with Mod Podge!

For my candle I used My Minds Eye Lost and Found 6 x6 Paper Pad as well as Quickutz Nesting Lace Circles for the base.

It Kits are very versatile and allow the beginner as well as the advanced paper crafter endless creative pleasure! These would  make wonderful gifts for the scrapbooker or card maker on your list! Will work will most die cutting machines!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Quickutz Be Splendid Dies!

Monday, November 21st, 2011

I have had a lot of fun with Quickutz Be Splendid collection! They have come out with some really fun dies for the Christmas Season this year!

My sister came up with a great idea to give our aunts for Christmas this year. They are not into scrapbooking, but love looking at the albums we’ve done. So this year me, my mom and sister are making a bunch of random pages to make blank albums for them. All they have to do is add their own photos! The best thing to do for those who are not into scrapbooking is KEEP IT SIMPLE! They may actually want to start scrapbooking if they can see that a page can be cute  and complete without being crammed with embellishments! To much can be overwhelming for beginners! After all, isn’t the main focus on the memories in the photos?

Here are examples of two of the pages I have done using the Be Splendid collection dies. Looking at blank pages is boring, so I threw on some pictures of my family taken last year (yes, I to am behind in getting my photos in a book!).

I used the DC0218-Snowflake Border and DC0220-Tags along with RS-0214-Snowflake 2×2 die for this page.

For the next page, I just used DT0211- Sleigh & Reindeer over a scalloped Circle. I cut off the legs of the DD0206-Santa Silhouette and stuck Santa in the sleigh. Don’t worry, it didn’t hurt him a bit!

I’ve kept them simple, but added cute die cuts, thanks to Quickutz! I’m sure you can think of someone who doesn’t like to scrapbook, but who would enjoy getting a blank one to add their own photos to. Most people would rather look at memories in a book than out of a box! You can check out these dies and more in our Christmas Theme!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Nestabilities, Framelits and Nesting Dies Comparison

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

I would like to give you a heads up on some of the differences and similarities between Spellbinders Nestabilities, Sizzix Framelits and Quickutz Nesting Dies. I will start by pointing out some of their differences.

Spellbinders Nestabilities- There are 6-7 dies per set. The difference between die template sizes within a Spellbinders Nestabilities set is 1/2 inch, which becomes a 1/4″ border when layering. The difference between large and small Nestabilities sets is 1/4″. Combining both the large and small sets of Nestabilities will allow for 1/8″ borders when layering.  This is nice because you have consistent measurements between layers.

They are the only die that can cut and have the capability to emboss. Many of the Nestabilities coordinate with many stamp manufacturers stamp sets such as Heartfelt Creations, JustRite Stampers and Sparkle N Sprinkle.

Sizzix Framelits- New from Sizzix this year, you receive 4-5 per set of wafer thin dies that allow crafters to cut exactly what they see with nothing to obscure perfect print registration. There is no capability to emboss, however, some sets include coordinating stamps! These are fun!

Quickutz Nesting Dies- Also known as Cookie Cutter Dies, sets can include anywhere from 4-22 dies per set! Because they are a bit thinner than the other manufacturer dies, they are able to fit more per package! They do not have the capability to emboss.

The similarities are; they are all wafer thin metal dies that allow you to see where you are placing your die, so you can easily cut photos, patterned paper, stamped images, etc.

All have the capability to layer, make windows or frames and stencil. All can be used in the Grand Calibur, Cuttlebug, Big Shot, Big Shot Pro, Big Kick and Vagabond machines as well as the Epic Six Tool!

Another great thing they have in common… all take up very little storage space, unlike bulky punches!

Well, there you have it! They are all great products and you will find a variety of shapes with each manufacturer! They will hold up cut after cut for many years to come!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Updates On Silhouette Cameo And Other Popular Products

Monday, November 14th, 2011

First of all, I would like to give the good news that we have received more of DC0220 Tags from the Quickutz Be Splendid Collection! Hooray! This is good news! They are so pretty and perfect for any gift tag, not just Christmas!

Now on to the “other” news. We have had some problems with our Back Ordered button not wanting to stay on for some items on our website. One of these is the Silhouette Cameo Machine.

We hope that you read the following statement in the item details, if not ,we have tried to email each customer with this information:

We are expecting the machines to come in the First Week of December as the manufacturer will not be receiving more in until then.”

If it makes you feel better, I don’t get mine until then either! We sold these so fast that I missed out on the first two shipments myself, and I work here! We ALWAYS fill orders in the order in which they come in as product becomes available.

We also have back order status updates on the following which have also had problems with the back order button:

GC-003 Grand Raspberry Plate- Back ordered from Spellbinders until Nov. 20th.

S5-055 Layered Poinsettia-Back ordered from Spellbinders until Nov. 27th.

We apologize for any inconvenience, however, we have all of the above items on order and will be shipping orders as soon as we receive the items! We appreciate your patience!

I hope that this information has been helpful! We are trying our best to get things in as fast as possible for you!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Thank You Veterans For Your Sacrifice!

Friday, November 11th, 2011

Today is Veteran’s Day. A very special day set aside to show our appreciation to those who have served and are currently serving in the military.  We at Cut@Home would like to say “Thank you” to all of our service men and women! We truly appreciate your service and sacrifice!

Many of you know that I shipped my son off to Basic Training in March, however, he had actually signed up a year ago last week! This past year has flown by! I was with him when he signed up. It was one of the hardest things for me, but I am so proud of him and his willingness to serve our country in the Army National Guard!

Here are some pages that I did for his military scrapbook. I used the Quickutz Blue Sky Alphabet for the title:

So many of you are part of Operation Write Home or other groups that make cards for servicemen to use to send home to their loved ones. You are totally awesome! I know that they love and appreciate all of your efforts! It is so very important for these men and women to hear from those at home and to have special cards to send home as well!

While in Basic Training, I created a mini album for him using the Spellbinders Creative Book Pages from Donna Salizar. I used lots of Military paper and embellishments and filled it with wallet size photos of the family. He later told me that the other guys were jealous because he got such a cool album from home. It is one of his cherished items and he looked at it often while he was away.

I hope that we can all remember and show our appreciations to those who have served or are serving our great county. We still live in the greatest country in the world and it is because of men and women in uniform who dedicate themselves to serve! THANK YOU!!!!

Be sure to check out our Military items from Quickutz!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Spellbinders Grand Impressabilities

Friday, November 4th, 2011

Many of you are familiar with Spellbinders Impressabilities, especially if you are a card maker, but have you tried the Grand Impressabilities? These are fabulous for Scrapbookers since they will emboss/deboss almost a full 8 1/2 x 11″ sheet of paper!

The Impressabilities templates will emboss, deboss, stencil, letter press and embellish all in one product.

Impressabilities embellishment templates allows crafters to effortlessly emboss or deboss the front of your scrapbook layout or add embossed or debossed accents to pre-cut shapes and letters, creating uniquely detailed embellishments.

Using micro-tip scissors, Impressabilities can also be trimmed to create custom templates for flourishes, frames, charms and more. And, when used with inks, Impressabilities templates can create elegant debossed Letter Press effects.

Here are a couple projects that I did using the Fall Splendor Grand Impressabilities which is perfect for this time of year.

I embossed a sheet of card with the Fall Splendor in my Grand Calibur then rubbed Tim Holtz Distress Ink over the top to bring out the leaves.

I also used  DC0202 Nesting Maple Leafs and the Splendid Alphabet (back ordered) from Quickutz.

This box was fun. I cut the box using Spellbinders LF-012 Square Petal Top Box then ran it through with the Fall Splendor. I used DCWV Shimmer card stock and Tim Holtz Distress Ink again to bring out the embossed images.  I finished it off with some Petaloo glitter leaves.  Fill with candy and have a great office gift!

I hope that gives you some ideas for the weekend!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Quickutz Be Spooked Gone Batty!

Friday, September 30th, 2011

I have had more fun with the new Be Spooked and Be Stuffed Collections by Quickutz lately than I can tell you! These dies are not intended just for layouts and cards!

As you can see from my BOO wood project, I grabbed one of the DC0189-Nesting Ghosts and one of the DC0191-Bats to embellish. I have to admit that I have become a pretty simple crafter.  I don’t have a lot of time to play, but I still love to craft,  so I keep my projects fast and easy so I can actually complete them! If it gets to extensive, it may end up waiting unfinished in a box in a dark corner of the basement!

My daughter and I got together over the weekend and each made a BOO. We used some of last years DCWV Halloween paper to mod podge onto the painted wood letters. We added a couple coats to the die cuts to give them some stiffness and protection. I liked her idea of making our spiders out of black pipe cleaner and a brad!

We had a finished project in just a couple of hours and our little Claire was actually a good sport and let us have our fun as long as we kept giving her a few Gold Fish crackers and had plenty of Weebles for her to play with!

Here’s my FINISHED project!

I hope that you will be able to take some time this weekend to finish a Halloween project or two! Have a great weekend!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Carrie
