Quickutz Magnetic Storage Books For Die Storage!

Tuesday, December 27th, 2011

I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas holiday! I know I did. It was hard to come back to work today with my family still there, especially since my grand daughter wanted to go with Grandma! It’s okay, they can stay home and find a place for everything while I’m gone! Have you organized your newly acquired items yet? Quickutz has the perfect storage solution for your new dies!

Quickutz Magnetic Storage Books are ideal for storing your Quickutz  Nesting dies, alphabets, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Shapeabilities, Edgeabilities  and/or Sizzix Framelits! The magnet keeps even the smallest shapes neatly in place and they fit fabulously in a bookshelf!

The interior and exterior of this slim book are solid black with a glossy QuicKutz logo on the front. Raised inner edges and a fold-over magnetic design add extra security for your dies. Dimensions when closed: 8″x10″. You can even customize the exterior with patterned paper and you favorite embellishments to complement your style or decor!

I absolutely love mine, and I have quite a few!

Wrapping It Up For Christmas!

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

The clock is ticking and we are left with 5 shopping days until Christmas. Of course, our time for mailing gifts is  now! My sons have done all of their shopping online and having the items shipped directly to my house so all they have to do is wrap the gifts when they come home for Christmas! Brilliant!

They don’t have to be bothered with transporting the gifts, but how do they know that we won’t peak? Probably because I have WAY to much left to do to bother with snooping! (I am also a bit old for that now) They will also save more money that way because they will, of course, use my wrapping paper, tape, tags and bows! What can I say? I raised smart boys! If only I could shop for a wife for each of them for Christmas! Then their wives can make sure they have their own wrapping supplies.  Alas, it doesn’t seem to work that way.

I had some fun with making some of my own bows this year with Sizzix Create-a-Bow and Create-a-Flower dies. If you have ever wanted to make your own, these are a great investment for future gift giving!

For those of you who made all of your Christmas cards and have them sent off, my hat’s off to you! I haven’t even got my pre-made cards filled out and sent yet! Yikes! That is tonight’s project. Technically we have until New Year’s for them to arrive, right?

I did get all of my neighbor gifts out last night. I only have a few presents left to wrap (that is if I am remembering them all) and only one gift to finish, so I am not feeling panicked anymore. I hope that you to are wrapping up your check lists so you can enjoy the last few days before the holidays!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Sizzix Bigz Pro Die Box Candy Shaped Die

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

They don’t get any larger than this! Sizzix Bigz Pro dies, are the largest dies ever and can cut hundreds of materials including cardstock, chipboard, fabric, foam, magnet, leather, metallic foil, paper and sandpaper (in limited use). The biggest shapes include full-size bags, boxes, cards, envelopes and album covers.

This year I am using the Bigz Pro Die Box Candy Shaped die for my neighbor gifts! The assembled measurement of this die-cut shape is approximately 9 3/8 x 2 3/8 x 2 3/8″. I have filled mine with candy mints, but you could fill with popcorn, pretzels, chex mix or anything else you can think of that would fit.

This die would also be cute for showers, birthday parties, office parties, etc. All you need is one piece of 12 x 12″ paper, adhesive,  and ribbon or other material to tie the ends. Very simple! Of course you can add tags or other embellishments if you like, but I have kept mine simple since I have so many to deliver! Now I just can’t wait to get them all delivered!

Please note that as it gets closer to Christmas we are at the mercy of the manufacturer availability and we can not guarantee delivery for Christmas as we fill orders in the order in which we receive them. We try our very best to keep items in stock, but unfortunately it is very difficult to make projections on product popularity!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Sizzix Incredibly Fun Bow Dies!

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011

I love making tags and cards and have always thought it would be fun to make my own matching bows, but never had enough ambition to actually try to come up with a pattern myself (okay, once but it was a disaster!).  Now, Sizzix has come out with these fabulous dies that allow me to make perfect bows in minutes! 657374 Bow, Create-a-Flower and 656544 Bow, Create-a-Bow.

I can’t tell you how thrilled I am! Needless to say, we have done a video for each one to show you just how easy  and fun it really is to make your own handmade bows! Have fun watching!

Nestabilities, Framelits and Nesting Dies Comparison

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

I would like to give you a heads up on some of the differences and similarities between Spellbinders Nestabilities, Sizzix Framelits and Quickutz Nesting Dies. I will start by pointing out some of their differences.

Spellbinders Nestabilities- There are 6-7 dies per set. The difference between die template sizes within a Spellbinders Nestabilities set is 1/2 inch, which becomes a 1/4″ border when layering. The difference between large and small Nestabilities sets is 1/4″. Combining both the large and small sets of Nestabilities will allow for 1/8″ borders when layering.  This is nice because you have consistent measurements between layers.

They are the only die that can cut and have the capability to emboss. Many of the Nestabilities coordinate with many stamp manufacturers stamp sets such as Heartfelt Creations, JustRite Stampers and Sparkle N Sprinkle.

Sizzix Framelits- New from Sizzix this year, you receive 4-5 per set of wafer thin dies that allow crafters to cut exactly what they see with nothing to obscure perfect print registration. There is no capability to emboss, however, some sets include coordinating stamps! These are fun!

Quickutz Nesting Dies- Also known as Cookie Cutter Dies, sets can include anywhere from 4-22 dies per set! Because they are a bit thinner than the other manufacturer dies, they are able to fit more per package! They do not have the capability to emboss.

The similarities are; they are all wafer thin metal dies that allow you to see where you are placing your die, so you can easily cut photos, patterned paper, stamped images, etc.

All have the capability to layer, make windows or frames and stencil. All can be used in the Grand Calibur, Cuttlebug, Big Shot, Big Shot Pro, Big Kick and Vagabond machines as well as the Epic Six Tool!

Another great thing they have in common… all take up very little storage space, unlike bulky punches!

Well, there you have it! They are all great products and you will find a variety of shapes with each manufacturer! They will hold up cut after cut for many years to come!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Differences Between Sizzix Bigz, Bigz XL, and Bigz Pro Dies

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

I would like to bring to your attention some differences between Sizzix Bigz, Bigz XL and Bigz Pro Dies, as this has become an issue with order returns, and I would like to help prevent this mistake that is so easy to make with these products. Sizzix has named this items similarly even though they are for different machines (which are also similarly named).

Bigz dies measure approximately 5 1/2 x 6″. These dies are designed for use only with the BIGkick, Big Shot and Vagabond machines and requires the use of a pair of Cutting Pads. A Bigz die cleanly cuts thick materials, including cardstock, chipboard, fabric, foam, magnet, leather, metallic foil, paper and sandpaper (in limited use). Its wider size offers you more design options.

Bigs XL dies measure 6 x 13 3/4″, these dies are designed for use only with the BIGkick, Big Shot and Vagabond machines and requires the use of a pair of Extended Cutting Pads and 6 x 12″ paper.

Bigz XL dies cleanly cut a variety of thick materials, including cardstock, chipboard, fabric, foam, magnet, leather, metallic foil, paper and sandpaper (in limited use).

Bigz Pro dies do not get any bigger than this! The Sizzix Bigz Pro inch dies are the largest dies ever. They cut hundreds of materials which include cardstock, chipboard, fabric, foam, magnet, leather, metallic foil, paper and sandpaper (in limited use). Designed exclusively for the Big Shot Pro Die Cutting Machine. These dies are great for cutting fast quilting designs too.

Measuring 12 x 12 3/4″, this Bigz Pro dies are designed for use only with the Big Shot Pro Machine and requires the use of a Big Shot Pro Cutting Pad, a Big Shot Pro Crease Pad and 12 x 12″ paper.

*Please look at the name closely as well as the item description as this will prevent the mistake of ordering an item that you may not be able to use in the machine you have.  Sometimes we have the tendency to fall in love with the picture and we don’t take the time to find out if that item is compatible with our equipment! Believe me, I have done it too!

I hope that this will help you in your shopping for Sizzix dies!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Sizzix Vintaj Collection!

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

Oh boy, oh boy! Have I got some fun news for you today! Sizzix has introduced the new Vintaj BIGkick Machine as well as DecoEtch and DecoEmboss dies! I promise that you are going to LOVE these for card making and scrapbooking embellishments!

The special edition machine cuts, embosses and etches many different designs, while customizing almost endless combinations of creations. In addition, the BIGkick is compatible with most of the Sizzix product library (when using the Solo Platform & Shim which is included) and most exciting techniques. This ultimate roller machine also cuts everything from cardstock to fabric and many things in between! See the rest of the Vintaj products we carry including the Vintaj DecoEtch dies and DecoEmboss dies!

Included with the Vintaj is a Solo Platform and Shim and one pair of cutting pads, which makes all Sizzix components compatible with the Big Shot Machine and even works with other brands’ dies and embossing tools!

The Vintaj Machine measures approximately 12 1/4 x 6 x 14 1/2″.

Each DecoEtch die instantly etches intricate patterns onto different shapes of Vintaj blanks without the use of chemicals. Use it to create or decorate unique metal embellishments for personalized projects such as jewelry, cards, scrapbook pages, boxes, frames and much more. To highlight the raised areas of the blank, use the Vintaj Metal Reliefing block (sold separately at Vintaj.com). For different design possibilities with a DecoEtch die, place the metal blank onto varying areas of the die with each use. This gives the added benefit of more even wear.

Measuring approximately 2 3/8 x 2 5/8″, this DecoEtch die is for use with Vintaj metal blanks and malleable metals only in the Sizzix Vintaj BIGkick, BIGkick, Big Shot and Vagabond machines (used with a pair of Cutting Pads and the machine’s included Platform). All items sold separately.

Each DecoEmboss die elegantly embosses beautiful designs onto different shapes of Vintaj blanks. Use it to create or decorate unique metal embellishments for personalized projects such as jewelry, cards, scrapbook pages, boxes, frames and much more. To highlight the raised areas of the blank, use the Vintaj Metal Reliefing block (sold separately at Vintaj.com). For different design possibilities with a DecoEmboss die, place the metal blank onto varying areas of the die with each use.

Measuring approximately 2 3/8 x 2 1/2″, this DecoEmboss die is for use with Vintaj metal blanks and malleable metals only in the Sizzix Vintaj BIGkick, BIGkick, Big Shot and Vagabond machines (used with a pair of Cutting Pads and the machine’s included Platform). All items sold separately.

I can’t wait to try the DecoEtch and DecoEmboss dies! I was seriously wishing I had some yesterday to make cute embellishments for the candy bar wrappers I was making as gifts for some ladies in my neighborhood. I guess I had better get mine ordered!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Be Spooked For Halloween Decor!

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

Here we are, half way through September! I hope that you are busy getting your Halloween paper projects done as it will be here before we know it! Quickutz has sure helped me out with my projects with their Be Spooked release. I am loving all the die sets in this release!

I have been trying to make a banner with the Nesting Ghosts for 2 weeks now, but finally got a chance to finish it up last night. I tell you, things have been crazy at my house, especially since all my yummy veggies have decided to ripen all at the same time and need something done with them NOW! (Does anyone know if you can do freezer salsa?)

Anyway, once I was able to find a minute to stay put in my craft room, it went together really fast! I used my Sizzix Big Shot Pro Machine to cut the  big shapes and my Cuttlebug for the rest.

Supplies used:

Quickutz dies- Nesting Lace Circles and Nesting Octagon, Nesting Ghosts, Splendid Alphabet

Making Memories Toil & Trouble paper

Purple card stock

Ribbon

Tombo adhesive

I think this would be fun to decorate home or office with. Hopefully this helps you get planning for all the little spooks that will be making their way around the neighborhood in only 6 weeks! YIKES!!!!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

How many of you have had the opportunity to use the Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities or Grand Impressabilities? They are awesome! For those of you who haven’t, you do need either the Spellbinders Grand Calibur Machine or Sizzix Big Shot Pro Machine to be able to use these fantastic dies! If you don’t have one of these, please be aware that the Grand Nestabilities are to large for standard machines.

They take off where regular Nestabilities stop. Their sizes are wonderful for frames, mini albums, banners and cards along with many other possibilities! Many of them coordinate with the regular Nestabilities, which allow more versatility for your paper projects.  I especially love them for my scrapbooking projects! I really like having coordinating photo frames with journaling blocks which you can achieve with both sets!

I hope that those of you who own some of these sets are enjoying them as much as I do!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!
