New QuicKutz Blue Sky Alphabet

Monday, March 28th, 2011

Alphabets are some of the funnest investments, and this new QuicKutz Blue Sky Alphabet is no exception! You get 78 capital letters, numbers and punctuation, which includes the shadow for each! Shadows may take a bit longer to cut out, but so worth the extra work! They really make your letter or number pop! This alphabet is approximately 2″ tall.

The new alphabets come a bit different than what we are used to with QuicKutz. They are coming in strips with a very tiny tab separating each letter instead of individual letters. The strips  seem a bit flimsy, but once you lay them on your plate they are fine. If you prefer them separate, you could easily cut the tab with tin snips, then file down the rough edge, but that is completely up to you! I am NOT saying that is what you should do! It is just an option.

I used the Blue Sky Alphabet for my son’s Army layout, but it is fantastic for sports, seasonal, or anything that you need a block letter for! I used both the letter and the shadow for this layout!

I kept the colors more muted since the Army is all about camouflage! The only other embellishment I used besides a couple of stickers was the small rope looking border that I punched with a Fiskers Border Punch.  I also used Gold Photo Corners from 3L Scrapbook Adhesives. I really had fun with this alphabet! I can’t wait to use it on more layouts!

We also just received some fun new paper packs from Lifestyle Crafts! Hello Goodbye and Sweet and Spicy will make a great addition to your paper collection, with fun patterns and colors!

Well, that is it for today! Tomorrow we’ll take a look at the new Whirlpool Alphabet!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Just For Fun With Heartfelt Creations!

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

Have you ever had an idea and KNOW that you have a particular item (like burlap) that you want for the focal point of your project, but then search for it only to realize that you must have loaned that item to someone and have not got it back? Well, that happened to me a couple days ago! I can’t remember who I loaned my burlap to, but I seem to remember doing that! So I improvised! For my Family Ties page below, I used some denim squares that I had originally cut for a quilt! It would have been nice to have burlap too! That is the beauty of creativity! You can change anything at any time! There are no restrictions!

I have grown to love the bright, cheerful look of sunflowers as I have gotten older! Even though I am so allergic to them that I don’t want them near my house, I love decorating with sunflowers! They make me feel happy! The Heartfelt Creations Aztec Gold Sunflowers 1 and Aztec Gold Sunflowers 2 cut out with Spellbinders Blossoms Two were a perfect combination to embellish my photo of my smiley nieces and nephew! I don’t own any Copic markers (maybe someday!), so I shaded them with Stampin’ Up Water Color Crayons, curled the leaves for dimension and sprinkled some black glitter for the centers! I made the leaves using Spellbinder’s Nested Leaves.

This was just for fun so I used some old paper that I bought who knows how long ago! I grew up in a rural area on the outskirts of  Salt Lake City, Utah, so if it looks country I am all over it! Gingham and polka dots fit the bill! I am a jeans kind of gal, so the denim squares with ric-rac trim worked for me! Of course, jeans ALWAYS work for me!  I took a Fiskars scallop punch to create the frame around my photo, then to hide my (shhh!) uneven corners I used QuicKutz RS-0136 Photo Corner.  The title is created from Boss Kut Hobby Horse Alphabet.

We have a surprise for tomorrow! Sneak Peak of our new product line!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Carrie

P.S. We are already out of the Grand Calibur Machines until our next shipment! Get in line if you want one next time!

Have You Discovered Boss Kut Alphabets?

Friday, March 11th, 2011

Okay, so you already know that I am a paper junkie, but I would say my next scrapbooking addiction is alphabets! This week I tried my first couple of Boss Kut Alphabets! Love them! They work just like my QuicKutz Alphabets in my Cuttlebug Machine!

Some of them are 2×2″ chipboard backing, like the Hobby Horse that I used on my layout for yesterday’s BLOG, and some are on 2×2″ metal plates, as with the Adore that I used for today’s layout. They work exactly the same!

My kids can’t believe how many I have. My accountant son thinks he has to add up the cost of each one and let me know how much I have spent, but I keep insisting that I almost always buy them on sale,  so his calculations are over estimated! Of coarse my daughter doesn’t mind that I spend on alphabets, because she can borrow them for free!

I have been using QuicKutz Alphabets for years and thoroughly enjoy them! I won’t say how many I have, but I’m sure that some of you are in the same boat! Both QuicKutz and Boss Kut have foam over the letters to keep paper or card stock from sticking in the die. QuicKutz dies are all made of metal and have expanded some of their alphabets from 2×2 to 4×8.

Boss Kuts has some metal and  some chipboard in the 2×2 plates. Both work great in most of the die cutting machines such as Cuttlebug, Big Shot, Grand Calibur, Epic Six and Wizard!

Like I said, I used the Adore Alphabet in this layout of my children.  I used Bazzill card stock, and  My Mind’s Eye Simply Delightful 12×12 stack. I cut one Spellbinder’s Grand Big Scalloped Ovals in half to place over the pattern paper and cut the flower embellishments from the same paper. The leaves are from the new Spellbinder’s Foliage set!

If you have never tried the Boss Kut alphabets, you should just give them a try! As the saying goes; Try it, you might like it!

I really believe it!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

New Spellbinder’s CHA Releases Have Arrived!

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

Yippee! The moment we’ve all been waiting for! Spellbinder’s CHA releases have arrived and we are racing to get all of the Pre-Orders shipped! As soon as we have pre-orders filled we will remove them from pre-order status so the coupon can be used! Hallelujah! We are so excited! They are all so beautiful! If you have ordered on a Pre-Order, be watching your email for shipping notification and then your mail box! They are on their way!

I did this layout using the fun new Sprightly Sprockets! My nephew loves to build, and he helped his dad build this tower for his dad’s school class. Pretty cool!

I used DCWV All About Boys 12×12 Paper Stack, some Spellbinders Premium Craft Foil for my photo robot’s eyes and antennas and Boss Kut Hobby Horse Alphabet for my title! My track is just red twine wrapped twice around the sprockets using 1/8″ Scor-Tape to secure it.

These new dies are going fast! We have already been informed by Spellbinders that once the first shipment is sold out, the next shipment won’t be coming until mid April! The sooner you order, the better!

Remember, we fill orders in the order in which they arrive!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

New Graphic 45 Metal Staples Are Here!

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

We are so excited to be stocking the new Graphic 45 Metal Staples! If you are into vintage, then you will want to make sure you take a look at these! There are Alphabet Sticker Staples, Chipboard Button Staples, Black Policy Envelope Staples, Envelope Tag Staples and much more!

I did a bit of playing last night with the Graphic 45 Curtain Call 12×12 Paper Pad, using the Chipboard Button Staples and one of the Metal Tag Staples. There are 3 of each size. I used one of the large pieces. I added a doily which brings back childhood memories of when my mom used to crochet doilies! The enhanced photo is of my mom and her little sister who both wanted to be actresses when they were little! I found the key in the old treadle sewing machine that we inherited from my husband’s grandmother! Cool! You never know what my be lurking around your house waiting to be included in a layout!

My title is cut from QuicKuz English Rose Alphabet on a mat cut from the Spellbinder’s CHA release Grand Large Labels #2 die (due in March!)

I really don’t like using a lot of adhesives on photos, especially older photos, so I like to attach them with photo corners! I used 3L Black Photo corners on this page to match the paper!

I hope you get a chance to browse the new Metal Staples! These make  some really fun embellishments for all kinds of projects!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

New DCWV Cotton Bloom Paper Stack!

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Have I mentioned lately how much I love DCWV Paper Stacks? Well, I do! Of coarse, I don’t know if I have also mentioned that I am just a plain ol’ paper junkie! I love, love, love paper! Even as a kid I had an obsession for pretty stationery and note pads! I know from talking to many of you that there are those who share my obsession! Paper is a staple! You have to have it!

Over the weekend I got to play with DCWV Cotton Bloom Paper Stack! Oh, so cute!!! I had a blast! The hardest part was trying to figure out which pattern to use! It was hard to decide! The whole stack is great!

For my “Family” page I used two of the Grand Labels Eleven (Pre-order item due in March!) for my picture mats. My flowers were made with the Floral Doily Motifs (this has arrived and is in stock, and you can now use your coupon on this item!). I used 1″ Scor-Tape to apply my ribbon and flowers. (Have I told you how much I love Scor-Tape? I believe it was inspired just for those of us that like to use ribbon!)

For my Tiny Bubbles Layout I used a QuicKutz Circles Embossing Folder to make the bubble background for my title. For those of you who have never used these, QuicKutz Ebossing Folders are very similar and work the same as Provo Craft’s Cuttlebug embossing folders. My title is cut from QuicKutz Winter Wishes Holiday Gift Set with QuicKutz RS-0099 Bubbles 2×2 die.

As you can see, the paper in this stack is adorable! I hope you enjoy it too!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

We’re Introducing JustRite Stampers!

Friday, February 11th, 2011

For all of you who are stampers, or who would like to be stampers, we would like to bring to your attention JustRite Stampers! I think you will be very  impressed with their products!I know that I am!

Now, I will admit that I have dabbled with stamps here and there, but never really knew what to do with them, so they have been a tiny bit intimidating! Since bringing on a couple of stamp companies, I am finding that I really want to do more with stamps! There are so many beautiful stamps out there!

For starters, JustRite are grooved on the back of the stamps which fit perfectly into the grooved surface of their coordinating stampers! This is great since you can mix and match borders, centers and fonts and they will match up perfectly to make your stamp unique to its purpose!

They offer wood stampers in different sizes, as well as clear stampers, which help you to see exactly where you want to place your image or sentiment. They also coordinate with some Spellbinder dies, Marvy Uchida Clever Lever Punches and even a few EK Success and Stampin’ Up punches!

They also offer a line of Cling Stamps and acrylic blocks that you can mix and match also!Mix and match with a variety of themes, verses, sentiments and alphabets!

I did a little playing last night with the JustRite Stamps to show you some examples.

For my chocolate kiss vase I used JB-09500 1 5/8″ Clear Stamper with the JB-09720 Romantic Sentiments Centers for the flower centers. For the main center I used my I-Top Tool and a large Brad-Daddy. The flowers are Petaloo- Love You  Flora Doodles. I placed the main flower on a back made from S5-027 Labels Twenty One, which I cut out on my Cuttlebug.

My card was as easy as can be! I stamped two images using the Cling Stamps CL-02075 You Inspire Me in two different shades of blue, punched the bottom with a scalloped punch, cut by hand the top image then used adhesive foam to stack them. The center was stamped and punched with  a circle punch. I used Martha Stewart border punches for the edges.

Of course I have to do a scrapbook page, so I started with paper from DCWV Nana’s Nursery 12 x 12 paper stack. The stamps are from JB-09265 The Greatest Joy Set. I used #4 die from Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large, then #4 die of Classic Scalloped Ovals Large and #4 Beaded Ovals die. The butterfly is from the new Fanciful Flight Set ( I love this set!) and Petaloo Love You Flora Doodles.

You’ve really got to give these stamps a try! They are great to use! Easy clean-up too! I’m sure that you will come up with some great projects!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

You will also want to use their Bling, Baby Bling, Rhinestone Gems, Pearls, Strips Bling, Brackets, and Swirls! You’ll want to add a little bling to everything! These items will be arriving soon!

I was introduced to Nestabling using the 2011 release that coordinates with S5-030 Fancy Tags Two!  Here are a few quick projects that I used them for!

For my first project I used paper from DCWV 12 x 12 Whimsy Paper Stack, S4-311 Labels Nineteen, S5-030 Fancy Tags Two with coordinating Nestabling!

This card was unbelievably easy using DCWV 4.5 x 6.5 Whimsy Mat Stack, S5-030 Fancy Tags Two with coordinating Nestabling! Fast, easy and pretty! It looks like I spent hours using glitter and rhinestones! NOT!!!

I love to scrap my granddaughter! She may be little, but she cracks me up with her big personality! She is already showing off like a “Little Clown”, so I decided on Graphic 45 Le Cirque 12 x 12 paper pad. The colors are as vibrant as she is, so it is perfect! I also used LF-246 Grand Labels Eleven and, of coarse, S5-030 Fancy Tags Two with Nestabling! After all, the Big Top has pizazz!

I can’t wait until the new Nestabling arrives! It is such a quick and easy embellishment and adds so much to your project! I am sold!

Keep watch for these items coming soon!

Die Cutting Machines Comparison

Friday, January 28th, 2011

One of the most frequent questions we receive is “What is the best scrapbook die cutting machine?”.  Basically, there is not a specific answer to this question, as it is purely personal preference!

We carry a variety of Die Cutting Machines to satisfy the versatility of our customers! You all are unique in your talents and have specific needs as to what  you like to work with, your work space and storage, to name just a few! We want you to have the best machine for you!

We mentioned the new Spellbinder’s Grand Calibur just a few days ago, so I suggest scrolling down to our Jan. 20th post for the latest information on cutting 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper! It is compatible with Sizzlits, Cuttlebug, and Quickutz dies, as well as Cuttlebug Embossing Folders and Fiskars Texture Plates.

Sizzix has several great machines! The Big Shot Pro will cut 12″ x 12″ paper! Constructed from industrial-strength materials, the Big Shot Pro Machine features a 13 inch wide opening to cut hundreds of materials.

The Big Shot is known for being the most versatile machine as far as cutting different materials on the market. This ultimate roller machine cuts everything from cardstock to fabric and many things in between.

The Sizzix Vagabond Machine inspired by Tim Holtz is a portable electronic die cutting and embossing machine. Resembling a well-traveled suitcase on the outside, the Vagabond Machine easily opens up to reveal a portable yet powerful machine that takes you to imaginative new places. It is the latest of their machines and has replaced the Big Shot Express. It has the ability to effortlessly cut and emboss many different materials and thicknesses.

Provo Craft’s popular Cuttlebug has an easy carrying handle making it very portable. The opening is six inches and works well with almost any die and embossing folder.

The Epic Six is the newest tabletop tool from QuicKutz! It both cuts and embosses all QuicKutz products as well as all other leading brand dies and embossing folders. One of its distinguishing features is that when used with the Letterpress Starter Kit you will be able to create beautiful letterpress art!

The Silhouette SD from Silhouette America is a digital cutting tool for personal use. It connects to your computer just like a printer, but instead of printing designs it cuts them with a small blade. With the machine connected to your computer, you’ll get access to all of the fonts on your PC plus the thousands of cuttable designs.

Making Memories Slice ELITE Cordless Digital Design Cutter has a hardware upgrade allows the ELITE to cut more precise, 40% faster and twice as deep. Cut textured cardstock, vellum, vinyl, acetate, foam sheets, thin metal sheets and photos up to 1mm thick. A large 2 inch window allows a preview of the shapes before cutting. Slice Elite weighs less than 2 pounds, measures less than 5 inch square and works with batteries or power cord.

For more information on these and other machines, click here – Die Cutting Machines. You can also watch videos on most of our machines here: Die-Cut Machines Video

I hope this helps you make your decision for the perfect machine for YOU!
