Just For Fun With Heartfelt Creations!

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

Have you ever had an idea and KNOW that you have a particular item (like burlap) that you want for the focal point of your project, but then search for it only to realize that you must have loaned that item to someone and have not got it back? Well, that happened to me a couple days ago! I can’t remember who I loaned my burlap to, but I seem to remember doing that! So I improvised! For my Family Ties page below, I used some denim squares that I had originally cut for a quilt! It would have been nice to have burlap too! That is the beauty of creativity! You can change anything at any time! There are no restrictions!

I have grown to love the bright, cheerful look of sunflowers as I have gotten older! Even though I am so allergic to them that I don’t want them near my house, I love decorating with sunflowers! They make me feel happy! The Heartfelt Creations Aztec Gold Sunflowers 1 and Aztec Gold Sunflowers 2 cut out with Spellbinders Blossoms Two were a perfect combination to embellish my photo of my smiley nieces and nephew! I don’t own any Copic markers (maybe someday!), so I shaded them with Stampin’ Up Water Color Crayons, curled the leaves for dimension and sprinkled some black glitter for the centers! I made the leaves using Spellbinder’s Nested Leaves.

This was just for fun so I used some old paper that I bought who knows how long ago! I grew up in a rural area on the outskirts of  Salt Lake City, Utah, so if it looks country I am all over it! Gingham and polka dots fit the bill! I am a jeans kind of gal, so the denim squares with ric-rac trim worked for me! Of course, jeans ALWAYS work for me!  I took a Fiskars scallop punch to create the frame around my photo, then to hide my (shhh!) uneven corners I used QuicKutz RS-0136 Photo Corner.  The title is created from Boss Kut Hobby Horse Alphabet.

We have a surprise for tomorrow! Sneak Peak of our new product line!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

P.S. We are already out of the Grand Calibur Machines until our next shipment! Get in line if you want one next time!

Spellbinders New Creative Book Pages!

Monday, March 14th, 2011

I have to say that I was so excited when I first saw the new Spellbinders Creative Book Pages Grand Die by Donna Salazar! There are endless possibilities for mini books with this spectacular set!

As I have mentioned before, my youngest boy just entered Basic Training for the Army National Guard, and it is his birthday this month, so I wanted to do something for him that he could use and keep in his limited space foot locker! They can’t have a whole lot and he made me promise NOT to send treats during Basic! Hmmm…. what do I send? Well, I CAN send pictures, and we just had our family pictures done the weekend before he left, so I decided to do a mini album using the Creative Book Pages Die Set! I only used dies #2-5.  Of coarse I used my Spellbinder’s Grand Calibur to cut them. You will either need the Grand Calibur or a Big Shot Pro by Sizzix to be able to use this set.

I didn’t want to embarrass him by sending anything even close to frilly. Army style seemed fitting and manly! I used paper from Creative Imaginations Signature Collection-U.S. Army Scrapbook Kit. The stickers are by Karen Foster and Reminise. I also used the Boss Kut Black Jack Alphabet for the “My Family” title.

Well, that’s it! I think he will love it! His little niece will make him smile for sure!

This is really a fun project for any occasion! You can bind it any way you like!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Have You Discovered Boss Kut Alphabets?

Friday, March 11th, 2011

Okay, so you already know that I am a paper junkie, but I would say my next scrapbooking addiction is alphabets! This week I tried my first couple of Boss Kut Alphabets! Love them! They work just like my QuicKutz Alphabets in my Cuttlebug Machine!

Some of them are 2×2″ chipboard backing, like the Hobby Horse that I used on my layout for yesterday’s BLOG, and some are on 2×2″ metal plates, as with the Adore that I used for today’s layout. They work exactly the same!

My kids can’t believe how many I have. My accountant son thinks he has to add up the cost of each one and let me know how much I have spent, but I keep insisting that I almost always buy them on sale,  so his calculations are over estimated! Of coarse my daughter doesn’t mind that I spend on alphabets, because she can borrow them for free!

I have been using QuicKutz Alphabets for years and thoroughly enjoy them! I won’t say how many I have, but I’m sure that some of you are in the same boat! Both QuicKutz and Boss Kut have foam over the letters to keep paper or card stock from sticking in the die. QuicKutz dies are all made of metal and have expanded some of their alphabets from 2×2 to 4×8.

Boss Kuts has some metal and  some chipboard in the 2×2 plates. Both work great in most of the die cutting machines such as Cuttlebug, Big Shot, Grand Calibur, Epic Six and Wizard!

Like I said, I used the Adore Alphabet in this layout of my children.  I used Bazzill card stock, and  My Mind’s Eye Simply Delightful 12×12 stack. I cut one Spellbinder’s Grand Big Scalloped Ovals in half to place over the pattern paper and cut the flower embellishments from the same paper. The leaves are from the new Spellbinder’s Foliage set!

If you have never tried the Boss Kut alphabets, you should just give them a try! As the saying goes; Try it, you might like it!

I really believe it!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

New Spellbinder’s CHA Releases Have Arrived!

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

Yippee! The moment we’ve all been waiting for! Spellbinder’s CHA releases have arrived and we are racing to get all of the Pre-Orders shipped! As soon as we have pre-orders filled we will remove them from pre-order status so the coupon can be used! Hallelujah! We are so excited! They are all so beautiful! If you have ordered on a Pre-Order, be watching your email for shipping notification and then your mail box! They are on their way!

I did this layout using the fun new Sprightly Sprockets! My nephew loves to build, and he helped his dad build this tower for his dad’s school class. Pretty cool!

I used DCWV All About Boys 12×12 Paper Stack, some Spellbinders Premium Craft Foil for my photo robot’s eyes and antennas and Boss Kut Hobby Horse Alphabet for my title! My track is just red twine wrapped twice around the sprockets using 1/8″ Scor-Tape to secure it.

These new dies are going fast! We have already been informed by Spellbinders that once the first shipment is sold out, the next shipment won’t be coming until mid April! The sooner you order, the better!

Remember, we fill orders in the order in which they arrive!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

My Mind’s Eye kits are now available! Back ordered QK dies

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Along with the Penny Lane kits we personally packaged, we just added the Breaking Free line! You can now buy the Breaking Free paper kits and coordinating accessories. This was a big project and we are so thrilled to have this finally completed, so please make us feel good and buy your MME paper from us!

We also got another shipment of Copic Markers. You know how hard they are to find, and we have plenty of all the Copic, Sketch and Ciao sets as well as the Baby sets. The only set Copic back ordered was the Glitter “B” set. This is good news, so don’t hesitate and get your Copic’s before this shipment is depleted!

One of our goals for this year is improved customer communication. That is why I hired Carrie to take over the phone and emails for me. Keeping up with our website, vendors and all our products was very hard for me to do and keep current on the emails and phone calls. Carrie has been working hard on emailing all of you who are waiting for the rev sale dies to arrive and keep you posted on the latest news from QuicKutz as to when they will be arriving. We are very sorry some of the dies are back ordered and out of stock. We have had some questions on why we ran a sale if we didn’t have the dies, so let me explain again how an online store works for those of you who don’t know or forgot, and why some of the dies are back ordered.

The benefit of an online store is we can offer lots and lots of choices on products, giving you a large variety, without having the inventory onsite. We do our best to carry several of each item as we don’t have the warehouse space to carry a lot of inventory on one item. The great part of being based in Utah is most of our vendors are within a 30 mile radius, (except for Spellbinders who is in Phoenix and Boss Kut who is in Missouri) so this means they can ship fast. Usually they can ship to us within 1-3 days of ordering so you don’t have to wait more than 5-10 days for your order. Still a pretty good turn around time for having such a great variety to shop from! We make projections on what we think we can sell based on what our customers like, and place our order accordingly. Projections are the hardest part of sales! Sometimes we order too much of one item and not enough of another. I am bald from pulling out my hair on this. It is a very difficult balance as excess inventory can put a small store like us out of business, especially with this economy!

So that is how an online store works. Now let me explain how an online store sale works!

As with 99% of our sales, our vendor tells us what we can put on sale and what we can price it at. Just like the QuicKutz sale we just had. My rep calls me up and tells me he has lots of inventory on such ‘n such and why don’t I do a sale. I jump all over it! But, we are not the only store running the sale. Don’t forget, we are not their only vendor! And just like us, Quickutz has their projections on what items they think they will sell and how much.  REV dies are very popular with my customers, so I loaded up with my initial order. I placed orders almost every day trying to keep up with the demand of the dies I sold out of while the sale was going on. Unfortunately, even though I was constantly placing orders, QuicKutz was low on their projections and they did not have enough of the dies I needed and sold out of about 20 of the dies. Which means they could not fill my order so I could not fill your order. The domino effect! That is why I put on the product descriptions “While supplies last” because we don’t know what the supply is like and how long it will last.  Inventory changes hourly. It is VERY difficult to predict and for those of you in sales, you know what I mean!

Anyway, I hope that explanation helps. We are very sorry some of the dies are sold out and some are back ordered and we appreciate the kindness you have shown us by being so understanding. I really have the best customers ever!

I am beat and ready to be off for the weekend! See ya Monday and don’t forget to check out our paper!

Thanks,

Marcie

Back from CHA!

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

We had a GREAT trip! Of course, things fell apart here with our server going down and Click’n Ship crashing, so Dustin and I were sorely missed :-) However, Tauna and Janeth did a beautiful job of holding things together, and by Tuesday everything was running smoothly again. We apologize for any inconvenience this caused and thank you for your patience.

Our BIG news is Cut@Home won an award! When we showed up at the Spellbinders booth, we were greeted by Stacy Caron and Jerry Poffel of Spellbinders for a big ole group hug! With a glimmer in her eye, Stacy said “We have something for you.” They then presented us with the 2008 Web Retailer of the Year Outstanding Performance Award! How about that!! We were pretty thrilled to say the least. Of course, we share if with all of you, because your outstanding support of our little store made it all happen.  We placed a HUGE order for all the new Nesties – you are going to want them all! The Impressabilities are really going to rock your world when you see what you can do with those! Wendy Weixler, Spellbinders designer extraordinaire and a dedicated CAH shopper, showed us all the beautiful ways you can use these stencils. They will be available on our pre-order site soon. We also met with Terre, their customer service manager, who is really on the ball and made sure we were well taken care of. They are all working very hard to keep up with the demand they have created for the best products. They have contracted with a new fulfillment center, so they will be closing down their shipping department for  the first two weeks in February. We have a lot of inventory right now in preparation for this, but just in case there is an unpredicted run on a certain die, we may have some wait time until they are up and shipping again. Their new fulfillment center promises to be very professional and quick with their orders. As for the NEW dies, they are still expected to arrive the end of the February. They have some of the dies on a slowboat and some of the dies coming by air. By boat or plane – they are on their way! Get your pre-orders in NOW! These dies are going be even bigger than ever! We are very excited!! They also have a new mat set for their border dies and an assortment of foils. The Wizard Bag and the Die Holder, which are on our pre-order site, are also very nice and I think you will like  them a lot. They are very good quality. The pinky-purple suede is very attractive. Also, some of the S3 and S4 dies have a permanent price reduction! More ways to save and make die-cutting more affordabel during these economically challenging times. Ya gotta love it!

I met with Kirk Pead, my QuicKutz rep, who showed us all the latest and greatest from QuicKutz! I am very excited about their new line of A2 embossing folders! They are comparable to the Cuttlebug folders in size and material. They are starting out with 12 single designs and also a design of four on one 4×6 folder. I love this idea! And the price point is $4.99! We will be working on having those available on pre-order as well. Look for a spring release date. They have a new Silhouette machine and a Silhouette download club, as well as new vinyl colors. I will have more information on that at a later date. I also asked if we could extend the coupon usage for another week, so my rep is going to take that to his bosses, and hopefully I will know if they cleared that before February’s coupon comes out.

We met with Dave and Alicia at Inspired Crafts and they showed us their new packaging for the Cutterglide, which is going to be so nice! They are also packaging the Mist-it’s in a three pack, which will be great. If you have a Mist-it, then you know why you want more than one! I love Dave and Alicia’s commitment to our environment in keeping everything eco-friendly. Go green!

Roy and Diana Crick from Scor-Pal are always a delight to visit! We are pumped about their new product – 6×6 sheets of Scor-Tape! How awesome is that! You can run it through your machines with a die and have scor-tape on the back of your die! Woohoo!! We will also be carrying the 1/2″ Scortape, which, as all your papercrafters know, holds together the seams for your boxes.  Look for those on our website very soon.

Here is the news on our other vendors: As always, Boss Kut has the cutest new 2×2 dies which will be released in March and the Gazelle, their new digital die-cutter. We will have the accessories for the Gazelle very shortly. We also met with Robin and Racel from Robin’s Nest and looked at all their new Dew Drops colors! You are going to LOVE the metallics! The teal is my favorite. They also have pink and green in a flowere shape dew drop. It will take them a few weeks to get all their CHA orders shipped, so we will announce it when they have arrived and are ready for shipping.  We met with Ron, our Copic rep. The good news is he gave us permission to discount our markers 25% off MSRP, however, the MSRP did go up as of January 1st. Not by a lot, just a few dollars, but I wanted to make you aware of that, so you don’t think we are pulling a fast one by raising the price then discounting it. I know some people do that and it is their business if they do, however, my personal feeling is it is not honest, and I won’t do it. We met with Provocraft, and we know they have new A2 embossing folders coming out (we heard in June) but did not get a peek at them or get a confirmed availability date.

As for NEW product, we met with some paper companies and will be soon be carrying paper! We are very excited about that so as soon as we work out the details, we will be announcing that.We are met with Katie Renz, a very talented designer and devoted CAH shopper, and bounced some ideas around about a program we are developing for all our designer friends. GREAT things are happening here and we are excited to make all of you a part of it!

Phew! This might be my longest blog ever! I hope this information has been fun and helpful to all of you and has you as excited as I am for 2009.  It is going to be a FANTASTIC year! I have wonderful business partners, a dedicated staff, supportive vendors and the best customers ever, all who are so willing to help and advise in any way they can. I am so blessed and grateful!

Thanks!

Marcie

Back from CHA! New product news and Nest shipping update!

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Hi Homies…I’m baaaack!

Janeth and I had a great time in Chicago at CHA! We met up with our Senior Designer, Jennifer, and spent some time looking at product and introducing her to all our vendors. She is as darling as her cards! Please visit our Idea Gallery and see some of Jen’s cards. She used the new CB embossing folders on the baby cards, and they are soooo pretty! We had the pleasure of meeting Roy and Diana Crick, the owners of Scor-Pal. What a wonderful couple! Diana demonstrated the Scor-Pal – what a GREAT tool! All you card makers HAVE to have one! She is a delight and always thinking of new ideas to make cardmaking more fun. We met with John Parkins, the owner of Boss Kut, and saw all their new dies. I don’t know if the images will do their new “Peekers” line justice. They are the cutest animals with the sweetest little faces, that are cut in two pieces – the hands and the face – so they can be placed to be “peeking” from behind your layout. Look for those coming on our site soon. We spent some time with Daniel Nuno from Quickutz and he showed us their brand new machine the “Love.” It is an electronic die-cutting machine that is universal, meaning it will take all the dies not just QK. That will be released mid October. Look for this machine on our pre-order page soon. We also saw their new 4×8 dies which I LOVE! We met Robin from Robin’s Nest, and will be adding her fantastic dew drops to our store and Ron from Copic Markers, so look for those two new products. All the new product will be added as soon as we can, however we are in the middle of beta testing our new website, so nothing can be done yet. As with all new product, the VIP coupon will not apply, however, we hope to be running some sales with our new stuff to introduce it. Stay tuned!

We spent most of our time hanging out with all our friends at Spellbinders. We went to lunch with Jeff and Stacey, the owners, and hung out with Jerry Poffel, one of their VP’s. We met Jerry Bowman, another VP, and Teresa, who travels with their display and makes their booth look so lovely. They were all so helpful, answering all our questions and listening to our ideas and concerns. The make ‘n take was their new Sunflower Edgeabilities die – gorgeous! I LOVE working with the gang from SB. In fact, it doesn’t even feel like work. It feels more like a bunch of friends sitting around discussing paper art. They really care about our store, which is very refreshing! The only Homies that were missing were my gals, Tiff and Lisa, from Customer Service and my man Barry, who keeps my accounting straight. They had to stay behind and keep things running while we were all in Chicago. I can attest to all of you that there is no way anyone at Spellbinders could have ever predicted the unprecedented growth they experienced with the Nestabilities. Product projection is VERY difficult. I know, because I do that for CAH. If you order too much, you can go under. If you don’t order enough, you are out of stock. I promise you they are doing the best they possibly can to keep the Nesties in stock. It is a delicate balance. I was sweating bullets while placing my initial order for the new SB dies, trying to guess from the pre-orders and your emails what is going to be hot and what all my Homies are going to want. Jennifer was looking over my shoulder telling me to add a few zero’s on the end of my numbers (way to go Jen!!), Janeth was studying all the new product, chewing on her bottom lip nervously and Jerry P. was holding my hand, trying to keep me from passing out! Mission accomplished and I hope I guessed right! The new product will be released mid September.

So here are some product updates for you:

1/4″ Scor Tape – arriving next week

Wizard – the problem was not with the machine, thank goodness!, but with the mats. The factory made the mats out of the wrong hard plastic. So in about 6-8 weeks the new mats will be in and the Wizard will be available again.

Xcalibur – I learned a lot about how important being UL approved is. The delay on the Xcalibur was absolutely necessary to keep it safe for the user and any children that like to “help.” We don’t want any missing fingers! They could have made the improvements and had it ready for a September release, however, that would have killed the price point, making it more expensive. This machine will be worth the wait!

Other SB dies – Ribbon Tags Trio, Stars Nestabilities, Architecture Columns, Book Plate #4, Slide Mounts, Rounded Top Tag, ATC Card, Eyelet Setting Plate, Long Classic Scalloped Rectangle Large, Classic Scalloped Circle Large, Classic Scalloped Rectangle Large, Spireabillities Triangles are all out of stock and should be arriving on the next slowboat.

Nestabilities sets – another slowboat was due in from China this week with more Nest 05′s and Nest 07′s. All orders for the Nest 01, Nest 03 and Nest 06 placed through July 22 have been shipped. All orders for the Nest 02 and Nest 04 placed through July 14 have been shipped. All orders placed for the Nest 05 through June 19 have been shipped. All orders placed for the Nest 07 through June 30 have been shipped. PLEASE contact me if it shows your order should have been shipped and you did not receive a confirmation email or your card was not charged. I have three BIG boxes of product that can’t ship because I am unable to charge the credit cards.

Thanks again for all your support!

Marcie
