New Sizzix Texured Embossing Folders Have Arrived!

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

We are so excited to have received the new Sizzix Textured Embossing Folders! We Oooed and Ahhhed over them while deciding which were our favorites! Now, I can tell you, that was hard! They are all gorgeous!

I love the embossing folders for making quick cards! You are probably starting to realize that I am all about quick! Sometimes I feel like the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, always in a hurry because I might be late! Needless to say that quick works best for me! You will most likely see quick ideas from me on our BLOG because that is what I do best! (Or at least have time for)

For this card I used the damask folder from the Corners & Damask Set. I ran white card stock through my Cuttlebug Machine then ran a Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink all over the top, which helped bring out the design. The pattern strip is from Basic Grey’s Hello Luscious 6×6 Paper Pad with a strip of ribbon. I used 1″ Scor-Tape to adhere the strip and 1/2″ Scor-Tape to apply the ribbon. The tag is made from Spellbinder’s new CHA release Grommet Tags.

Using the corners folder of the Corners & Damask and both the DCWV Luxury Mat Stack and Linen Closet Solid Mat Stack, I made a quick wedding card! I finished it off with Spellbinder’s CHA Fancy Tags Two and Basic Grey’s Opaline Half Pearls!

For this next card I used a card from DCWV Latte Box of Cards and embossed the front with one of the Country & Flowering Foliage Set, the ran the card stock strip through with the other folder in the same set. I used another new CHA release, Labels Eighteen #3 die for the stamped greeting.

Last of all, I simply used two of the four folders in the Butterfly Migration Set for a simple, yet pretty “Thinking of You” card! I used a dauber to dab ink around the edges of the greeting and on the butterflies to create contrast to the rest of the card. 5 minutes tops!

I hope these give you an idea of how pretty these new Sizzix Embossing Folders are!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Take A Trip With Basic Grey’s Wander!

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

I like to travel whenever I get the chance. It doesn’t matter if it is by car, airplane or boat for that matter! If I can get away for a while and relax, then I am in good shape! That is why I like the new Basic Grey’s Wander 6×6 Paper Pad! It is designed for the traveler in you! It has fun designs with cars, planes, and even maps!

Here are a couple of examples giving you a sneak peak at just a few designs that this cute pad has to offer:

I used QuicKutz English Rose Alphabet for the numbers and brackets.

Such a cinch! I ripped, inked on the tear, and added a Making Memories embellishment on a frame using Spellbinders new CHA release Fleur De Lis Rectangles! Easy, breezy! This is really fun paper!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Card Embellishments In A Snap!

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Wedding?  Shower? Birthday? Doesn’t matter, I always think of needing a card at the very last minute! I am notorious at my house of forgetting the cards! Are any of you the same way? Well, those of you who are card makers probably aren’t, but I am more of a scrapbooker than a card maker, so I don’t always have a card on hand for any occasion!

I decided that, for me, it is a good idea to have some pre-made cards on hand that I can add an embellishment or two in a hurry and go! Die Cuts With A View’s Box of Cards collection is a winner! They have a very nice assortment per box to choose from, add embellishments (or not) and have an original card to give in minutes!  I could add a specific title  or stamped label to spruce it up a bit more, but I am still done in no time at all!

For my examples I used cards from Latte, La Creme, Citrus and Street Lace! My embellishments were Petaloo Dazzlers, Petaloo Celebrations, Embellishments by Petaloo, and Metal Staples from Graphic 45!

So, there you have it! Quick and easy card embellishments in a snap!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Cuttlebug Embossing Plus Folders

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Many of you have expressed confusion about how to use the new Cuttlebug Embossing Folders Plus! We have posted a “How to” video on our site to help you as the instructions on the packaging are not very clear.

The most important thing to remember before beginning is to remove the cardboard backing by removing the two green tabs at the top! DO NOT TRY RUNNING THE FOLDER THROUGH YOUR MACHINE BEFORE DOING THIS! You could break your plates or your machine!

Once these are removed,  you can take the folder off of the backing and follow the instructions on the backing.

These are so fun and easy that we want you to have fun too!

Happy Scrappin’!

After what seems like waiting an eternity, the new Quickutz A2 embossing folders are finally here. They are darling and so much fun, we think they were worth the wait! Cute card ideas With Spellbinders Classic Paisley Nestabilities!

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

I am so excited to share my cute card ideas for my very first blog! I’ve been playing around with the Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Paisley Set. You wouldn’t believe all the fun ideas that you can do with Paisley! I would have never guessed it if I hadn’t sat down and thought: “Hmm… what else can I do with this die?”

So I started thinking about this and playing with the set while my husband made me sit and watch a movie with him ( I can’t just sit!), and here’s what I came up with!

My first card is Ahoy Matey.

I used the DCWV All About Boys Mat Stack , found the ship and thought that a whale would look cute with it! The whale and water spray is made from the three smallest dies in the Classic Paisley set. For the tail I just took a notch out of the paisley and that was all I did for a whale! For the title I used Quickutz Banana Split Alphabet. This card would be perfect for a baby boy birth announcement, birthday invitation or birthday card for a boy. You could even use it for a cheerful get well or just say HI card.  I may decide to ditch the card and put it on a scrapbook page!

My second is the Latte Flower Card:

For this card I used both the DCWV Latte Mat Stack and DCWV Latte Solid Cardstock Mat Stack. The scalloped window is the largest of the Spellbinders  Nestabilities Classic Ovals Small die Set. The flower and leaves are made up with the smallest of the Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Paisley Set. The center is made from the smallest of the Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Paisley Set. The stem was just hand cut with scissors. I thought this would be a fabulous all occasion card!

What do you think?

SPELLBINDERS – What Are Nestabilities?

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Although Nestabilities have been around since 2007, there are still many scrapbookers, card makers, and paper crafters that are not familiar with them.  We hope this page can give you more of an idea how great these die cuts are and answer that question: What Are Nestabilities?

Spellbinders Nestabilities are various die cut shapes at 1/4th and 1/8th inch increments that create beautiful scrapbooking pages. Like many die cut templates they are metal wafer thin dies that allow you to cut, emboss, and stencil all in one. One of the major differences is that with nesting dies you have about 6 or 7 that come in a package that are great for stacking to create a 3-D nesting effect at an affordable price. They are universal and work in most die cutting machines.

Scalloped CirclesWhat Can Nestabilities Cut Through?
Nesting dies can cut through a number of different crafting materials. Here are some that are actually listed on their packaging: Paper, Cardstock, Craft Foil, Foam, Vellum, Leather, Mica, Chip Board, Sheet Magnet, Cork, and Fabric Paper.

Classic Scalloped PaisleyWhat Can Nestabilities Be Used For?
Nestabilities can be used for a number of different types of scrapbook projects. Here are some that you might be interested in: Greeting cards, Scrapbook Layouts, Embellishments, Jewelry, Layered Effects, Photo Mats, Frames, Altered Art, Cake Decorations, and everything else that your crafting imagination can express.

Labels EightWhat Kinds Of Materials That Nestabilities Be Used To Form With?

There are a wide selection of different materials that Nestabilities can be used to form with when creating paper crafting projects. Here are some listed: polymer clay, pewter metal, precious metal clay, liquid polymer, craft wax, balsa wood, putty, and fondant.
As you can see the possibilities are endless. You can also use Nesting Dies with inks, chalks, markers, watercolor pencils and a lot more! Here is a video also that Stacey Caron explains Nestabilities and their functions.
