Be Spooked For Halloween Decor!

Thursday, September 15th, 2011

Here we are, half way through September! I hope that you are busy getting your Halloween paper projects done as it will be here before we know it! Quickutz has sure helped me out with my projects with their Be Spooked release. I am loving all the die sets in this release!

I have been trying to make a banner with the Nesting Ghosts for 2 weeks now, but finally got a chance to finish it up last night. I tell you, things have been crazy at my house, especially since all my yummy veggies have decided to ripen all at the same time and need something done with them NOW! (Does anyone know if you can do freezer salsa?)

Anyway, once I was able to find a minute to stay put in my craft room, it went together really fast! I used my Sizzix Big Shot Pro Machine to cut the  big shapes and my Cuttlebug for the rest.

Supplies used:

Quickutz dies- Nesting Lace Circles and Nesting Octagon, Nesting Ghosts, Splendid Alphabet

Making Memories Toil & Trouble paper

Purple card stock

Ribbon

Tombo adhesive

I think this would be fun to decorate home or office with. Hopefully this helps you get planning for all the little spooks that will be making their way around the neighborhood in only 6 weeks! YIKES!!!!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Be Spooked, Be Stuffed Collection!

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

As promised, I am featuring projects from the Be Spooked, Be Stuffed Collection from Quickutz/Lifestyle Crafts.  These dies can be used in the following machines: Quickutz Epic Six Tool, Provo Craft Cuttlebug, Sizzix Big Shot and Vagabond by Tim Holtz.

I used my beloved Cuttlebug for these projects. I rely on that little machine more than any of my others! It is like a trusted friend.

Since harvest time correlates with  fall, the first item of decor on my list for September 1st is pumpkins! I grow pumpkins in my garden for the sole purpose of decorating my front porch! I have a thing for pumpkins and scarecrows! A few corn stocks are also a must.

With that said, my first project just had to be with the Pumpkin dies! For dimension, cut 3 of each size. I used pattern paper from DCWV and 1/8″ Scor-Tape from Scor-Pal on the edges to hold the pieces together. I want to use these as table decorations (possibly put a candle in the middle of each) so I put a vine and leaf on all three sides.

Add faces to transform plain ol’ pumpkins into Jack-o-Lanterns for Halloween! Single pumpkins will also make great scrapbook embellishments for my fall layouts! Set includes 4 dies.

I used the Pilgrim Hat for my next project. I adore this die set because it is just so cute! Why use it only for Thanksgiving? I decided to make an altered witch hat for Halloween favors! More ideas- leave off the buckle for an Indiana Jones hat, turn up the sides and crease the front for a cowboy look, etc.! Fill with candy, crayons, mints, whatever! The best part is….with only 4 dies, it only takes minutes to put together!

There is more, but you will just have to wait until tomorrow to see more!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Spook-tacular projects for Halloween from Spellbinders!

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

The DT at Spellbinders really do some fantastic designs. Those gals are really talented and deserve a blog post all to themselves, so here ya go! Let your creative juices flow and get ready for the scariest holiday of the year!

If you went to CHA Chicago and stopped by the Spellbinders booth, these pumpkin pins were the make and take courtesy of Cathy Chelbana. She used the Labels Fifteen, Labels Sixteen and the Jack O Lanterns shapeabilities die.

Kazan Clark did this Halloween layout using the Nested Bats, Witches Brew, and Big Scalloped Border Grand.

This Halloween layout has really gone to the dogs – and aren’t we glad! Mona Pendleton created this dog-gone great layout using the Graveyard Scenes, Wonky Squares and the Standard Circle Nestabilities die.

Here is a cute card by Beth Pingry using the Witches Brew shapeabilities die. What I love about these shoes if you get a right and a left shoe!

Regrets Only would not be a problem with this great looking Halloween party invite! Latisha Yoast used the Labels Fourteen, Graveyard Scene, and the Floral and Stone Impressabilities to create this card.

What’s a party without decorations! And I went batty over this bat banner designed by Margie Higuchi. She used the Nested Bats, Halloween Fence Scenes, Jack O Lanterns and Witches Brew shapeabilities dies.

I hope you enjoy looking at these works of art as much as I did!

Happy Haunting!

New paper from Graphic 45 available for pre-order!

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Here are some new papers released from Graphic 45 at CHA in Chicago.  There is also a video at the end of this post showing two of the lines Halloween Wonderland and Christmas Past. Christmas past is a new re-release with 4 new papers!

Here is a quick look at the new paper from Graphic 45! The Christmas Past collection is different from the one they released lat year. They added four more papers and two more colors – plum and country blue.

They came out with a unique twist on Halloween paper I think you will enjoy with Hallowe’en in Wonderland:

Think Alice in Wonderland on Halloween! The colors are great, especially the purples!

Steampunk Debutante is a very unique look of nostalgic travel:

The Halloween paper in the 8×8 and 12×12 will be arriving next week, and the other two are available for pre-order in the 8×8 and 12×12 paper pad sizes as well. They should be arriving the first week in August.

or watch it on Youtube here: Graphic 45
Have a good weekend! I am off the CHA on Monday, so my staff will take very good care of you while I am gone :-)

Happy Scrappin!

Spellbinders blog frenzy continues with Lacey Circles, Witches Brew and Nested Bats!

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

The last three dies with the Spellbinders Blog Frenzy are the S4293 Lacey Circles Nestabilities , S4282 Witches Brew shapeabilities and S4277 Nested Bats!

I love the Lacey collection of nestabilities! The Witches Brew shapes and Nested Bats will be great for Halloween layouts. I love how Spellbinders gave us a right and a left shoe!

Now, let’s look at projects! Keri Lee Sereika created some beautiful projects using the Lacey Circles:

She used felt on the first project, and they have clips glued on the back to make barrettes for your hair. On her second project, she used the Lacey Circles as a clasp. Keri also has a great idea for using your nestabilities for borders. Check out her blog post. Great ideas Keri!

Kazan Clark had a ghoulish good time with her Halloween dies!

Well there ya have it! Another great Spellbinders Blog Frenzy! Spellbinders is releasing additional dies at CHA next week, so make sure you check our pre-order category on July 27th. To find out the recipes on the designs featured, please click on the designers name.

Thanks and Happy Scrappin!
