Quickutz Sweetheart Collection-Not Just For Valentines!

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

Most scrapbookers know that hearts are a staple in the ever changing supply stash, because you can use them on so many different projects. They never go out of style, but come in so many different styles. I want to reaffirm that hearts are NOT just for Valentines Days, even though the holiday is right around the corner! I have been having a blast with the Quickutz Sweetheart Collection and would like to show you my Valentine looking page that is NOT for Valentine’s Day!

Every time my granddaughter comes to my house she wants to go out in the back yard to play in the playhouse. As you can see, she doesn’t even care if it is cold outside! She loves it!

The Quickutz dies I used for this page are as follows:

DC0257 Nesting Hearts

DC0260 Nesting Lace Hearts

DC0164 Nesting Lace Rectangles

Dc0163 Nesting Scallop Rectangles

DA0221 Splendid Alphabet

DA0235 Lemon Drop Alphabet

Pattern paper & ribbon.

So, while you are busy creating those Valentine projects, try thinking of other ways to use those hearts throughout the year! Anniversaries, Prom, Engagement, you name it!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Hearts, Hearts and more Hearts!

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

So many choices to choose from! When trying to decide what to use for my Valentine’s Day projects, I have a hard time choosing what I want to use!

There is the S4-137 Classic Scalloped Heart which I can pair with the S4-136 Classic Heart from Spellibinders, or the elegant S4-296 Nested Hearts.

Quickutz has a variety of hearts as well as KS-0788 Cupid and even a cute RS-0305 Chocolate Drop which is perfect for my chocoholic daughter! I tell you, it is a tough decision!

For my first project, I went with the #1 die of the S4-296 Nested Hearts. Placing a piece of velum with a sheet of DCWV Black Current paper, I cut and embossed them together.  I used the #5 die from the S4-294 Beaded Ovals and #5 die from the S4-112 Classic Ovals Small for the background and embellished with small pearls and ribbon!

Next, I wanted to make a sugar cookie card to go with the sugar cookies I make my kids every year for Valentines!

I used the S4-137 Classic Scalloped Heart #5 die for the back, the S4-136 Classic Heart #5 die for the card. To cut the heart so it will open like a card, I folded a piece of card stock in half then placed the card stock on the die just inside the top of the die so it would not be cut.  I then ran the card through the 37-1139 Heart Blocks embossing folder for some dimension and glued on the back! Since my children have the “Key to my Heart“, I used that KS-0790 die from Quickutz to cut the embellishment from Spellbinders Craft Foil! Add some ribbon to tie them together and voila!

For this project, I used a cardboard canister that had arrived in the mail which I thought would make a great treat canister!

I used sheets of paper from My Minds Eye Simply Delightful stack to cover the canister and the tag. (Notice the heart shapes on the paper?) I cut the tag using S4-301 Labels Sixteen #4 and #5 dies and finished it off with cutting two hearts with RS-0003 Heart and a stamp from Stampin’ Up!

I had lots of fun with these and they didn’t take long at all! With Valentines Day fast approaching, I hope to have more projects with hearts to share!

Happy Scrappin’

NEW Spellbinders Nested Hearts and Wonky Squares Nestabilities!

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

A new day has dawned and you know what that means! MORE Spellbinders dies!! Today’s blog frenzy revealed two new dies – the Nested Hearts and Wonky Squares Nestabilities!

The S4296  Nested Hearts have a very Victorian flair to them with the scrolls. They look like charms to me with the loop at the top. Heidi Blankenship designed the following projects:

Thanks Heidi – these are gorgeous!

The S4289 Wonky Squares are part of the Nestabilities collection and include seven different sizes:

Here is Mona Pendleton’s projects:

I love the abstract lines of this die. Stacked they make a great pinwheel!

These dies and the rest you have seen are available on our pre-order page. Tomorrow we will show the last dies, then I will be getting ready for CHA next week! To see the recipes on making these projects, please click on the designers name.

Happy Scrappin!
