Silhouette Cameo Butterfly Layout

Thursday, April 26th, 2012

Please don’t think I’m pathetic. I want to show you my Silhouette Cameo butterfly layout. It’s my first one ever using my beautiful new machine! I have actually had my Silhouette Cameo since just before Christmas, but barely got the chance to sit down and play with it this past weekend! I know, I AM pathetic, but the point of this is, I loved it!

It took a few test cuts to find the right blade depth for the card stock I was using, but once I got that right, I cut away! I loved shopping the Silhouette store. I could shop there for hours! It is nice to purchase only the designs that I want and I don’t have to find a place to put them (my craft room is getting pretty crowded already). They have hundreds of amazing designs to choose from! There is even a clearance section of discounted designs. Of coarse, I am a BIG fan of the weekly freeby that I can download even if I haven’t had a chance to use them yet! I will though. Now that I have gotten familiar with it, it will be no problem to pull it out more often! The hardest part for me is the initial “bonding” between me and my new product. I sometimes get a little intimidated with technology. :)

Anyway, back to my layout! I was quite impressed with how beautifully the Cameo cut the intricate butterflies I chose. Their tiny antennas didn’t even break off ! I am confident doilies would not be a problem for this machine! It was fantastic!

Other products I used on the layout:

Sizzix 656605 Bigz Pro Die Circle, Ribbon

Quickutz DC0256 Nesting Doily Squares

Quickutz Photo corners (discontinued)

white and black card stock

pattern paper by Doodlebug Designs

Now that I look at it again, I remembered that I forgot the bling that I was going to put on my butterfly bodies, so count that on the list too, because I will put that on right away! I’m sure you understand.

Thanks & Happy Scrappin’!

Sizzix Eclips Starter Kit!

Thursday, April 19th, 2012

If you are in the market for an electronic die cutting machine, you will want to be sure to include the Sizzix Eclips Starter Kit to your list of machines to look at!

I had the unique opportunity to take one home as a loaner for a couple of weeks to get familiar with the machine so I could better help with customer questions. Let me tell you right now, I have had to use a TON of self control ever since to NOT purchase this machine for my own scrapbook room! I absolutely LOVE this machine! I had so much fun playing around with the Eclips. It is very user friendly and the handheld control is SO nice! Anyone can use this machine!

The Sizzix eclips Electronic Shape-Cutting Machine and Handheld Remote Control creates completely customizable shapes and letters to adorn almost anything up to 12 inches. That’s right the award-winning artwork is now available electronically from Sizzix!

Eclips Starter Kit includes:

Eclips 12 inch shape cutting machine, 2 cutting blades, universal power supply, eclips handheld remote control, handheld remote control cradle, blade holder, power cord, 6′ USB cable, a starter cartridge, starter cartridge booklet, cartridge easy to store case, 12 inch x 12 inch cutting mat, AND a User Guide.

Machine Size = 22 1/2 in. x 5 in. x 7 1/2 in.

Weight = 16.5 pounds

Machine functions:

2-speed blade movement for fast and accurate positioning
Adjustable blade depth
Laser image preview for less paper waste

Convenient handle to take machine anywhere

Handheld Remote Control:

High-resolution 3.6″ LCD for larger image preview
Easy on-screen navigation
Sliding screen reveals full keypad
Ergonomic cradle allows tabletop use
Multi-language user interface (English, French, Spanish, German)

Cartridge capabilities:

Remove and replace cartridges with power on
Decorative borders for 6″, 12″, 18″ and 24″ projects
Search command for all shapes
Create a “favorites” folder for designs you like
Picture-in-picture and mirror functions
Designs available in several styles: Original, Border, Outline, Shadow, Solid
Extra embellishments and add-ons to accompany select shapes

Some of MY favorite features included:

Laser Cut- Preview cutting pattern of selected images on the cutting mat by using a laser to outline where your cuts will be, cutting down on waste.

Pieces- This separates individual pieces of selected image with no guess work as to the individual sizing of the individual pieces. Very nice!

Being able to select paper size-Fabulous!

Being able to select material that you will be cutting, which automatically sets the speed and blade depth.  Again, fabulous!

Cartridges- Smaller cartridges and packaging make these easy to store. The images and fonts are SO fun and I love the fact that you can change cartridges while machine is on, right in the middle of your project, putting images from different cartridges in the same que for cutting! Awesome!

There is so much more that I could say about the features of this machine, but today’s blog is probably long enough for now! This machine is definitely one to consider when you are looking for a personal electronic die cutting machine. It is really a sweet machine!

Here are a couple pages I did while playing with the Eclips. And, you can finally see my new grandson!

I used the darling First Edition Animal Antics 12×12 Paper Pad,

656171-Sizzix Special Occasion cartridge

655934-Sizzix Starter Kit cartridge ( included with the purchase of the machine)

E8-002-Spellbinders Classic Bracket Edgeabilities

Tim Holtz Distress Inks- Weathered Wood & Walnut

The pieces feature made cutting these images a breeze!

QuicKutz Tropical Splash Collection!

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

Today I would like to introduce the QuicKutz Tropical Splash Collection if you haven’t seen it already! Perfect for summer layouts, party invitations, and even party favors! There is so much you can create with this fun collection! There is a variety of sizes in this collection from 2 x 2 wafer dies to 12″ cookie cutter dies. The darling Tiki Alphabet is on a 4 x 8 plate with letters measuring approximately 1/2″ tall.

If you are planning a summer party or luau you can create your own Drink Umbrellas, Lantern, and even a Lei or two (or 50!).

My family is big into water sports so I have a ton of pictures at lakes or the ocean and this collection is perfect for my scrap room! Maybe I can get all those pages done that I have been putting off! At least I got a start with the pages below!

For my first page I used my Big Shot Pro with the Bigz Pro Die Circle Ribbon, then I used the Epic Six to cut the Surfboards and Tiki Sign which is included in the Tiki Alphabet used for the letters.  The Hibiscus were cut from the Hibiscus border.

For my next page I used the full Hibiscus border on the top then cut up another one for the pieces on the bottom.  The palm leaves are cut from the Tropical Tags die and attatched with a copper brad.

You can use the Hibiscus die and other 12″ dies  in the Cuttlebug V2, Big Shot or Vagabond by Tim Holtz using extended plates! If you plan to use your Big Shot Pro Machine with these dies or any wafer thin die, you will need the Big Shot Pro Solo Platform, Shim & Wafer Thin Die Adapter.

Here’s a look at some of the displays QuicKutz had in their booth at CHA!

I hope this gives you some inspiration for future projects! It is always fun to see someone else’s spin with a product!  QuicKutz inspired me to start die cutting and I have been an addict ever since!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Heartfelt Creations Wedding Collection!

Tuesday, June 21st, 2011

Okay ladies and gents, I finally had a chance to play with the new Heartfelt Creations Wedding Collection Stamp Sets! I just can’t get over the incredible detail that their artists put into them! They are so beautiful! These cling stamps are so easy to use with any acrylic block!

I am a bit behind in scrapbooking my daughter’s wedding, so I took the opportunity to use these gorgeous stamps to create a layout of her wedding day! I used Bella Rose Wedding, Wedding Sentiments and Bella Rose Heart. I cut the scalloped piece from the DCWV Linen Closet Paper Stack using my Sizzix Big Shot Pro Machine and the Bigz Pro Die Square Scallop.  The background piece is from DCWV Shimmer Paper Stack. To complete the ensemble, I used K & Company stickers, Want2Scrap Silver Baby Bling, heart rhinestones, paper doilies and a heart corner punch.

Now I can’t wait to use the other sets in the Wedding Collection! These really make fabulous embellishments for layouts as well as amazing bridal or wedding cards! Now is the perfect time to get yours, as summertime is the busiest time for weddings!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

The Big Shot Pro Rocks!

Friday, June 10th, 2011

Pride can be such a confusing word! It can be good as far as taking pride in our family, appearance, etc, but it can be a detriment when it causes you to be stubborn about change! When Sizzix released the Big Shot Pro Machine I was NOT going to get another machine! I was determined not to cave in! I did not need it, did not have room to put it….. bad pride.  Thanks to several customers calling in to find out how to do things with this fabulous machine, I finally decided it would be helpful for me to have one so I could learn how to use it and would actually know how to help my customers, so I caved!

The Big Shot Pro Machine works with every Sizzix and Ellison design.  Constructed from industrial-strength materials, the Big Shot Pro Machine features a 13 inch wide opening to cut hundreds of materials. That is fantastic!

I can’t begin to describe how I already love this machine and I just got it last week! (Just so you know, I did have to put my order in and wait in line,  just like everyone else!) I had to do a little rearranging in my scrapbook room, but I did find a place all of its own, where it sits proudly waiting to go to work for me! I still have to figure something out to organize my Bigz Pro Dies but that will come as I work more with it.

That’s another thing, when we started getting those big dies in I fell for them right away! (Have I told you what a sucker I am?) I am tickled with how big they are! I am already planning my neighbor gifts for Christmas! They do not get any bigger than this! The Sizzix Bigz Pro inch dies are the largest dies ever. They cut hundreds of materials which include cardstock, chipboard, fabric, foam, magnet, leather, metallic foil, paper and sandpaper (in limited use). Designed exclusively for the Big Shot Pro Die Cutting Machine. These dies are great for cutting fast quilting designs too.

So here is my first finished project using this incredible machine and the Bigz Pro Die Box Popcorn #2. You have to cut 2 from the die to make the box, so make sure you have more than one piece of 12 x 12 paper! I also used Heartfelt Creations Bella Rose House, Bella Rose Leaves along with the Bella Rose die. I cut the house out with Spellbinders Labels One Small I was making this for my dad’s birthday,  and he has been saying how nice it would be to have a movie night, so I filled it with candy, popcorn and a gift certificate to the movies!

Well, that’s it for today! I hope you all have a wonderful, sunny weekend!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Carrie

Back Order Update: The Big Shot Pro is still back ordered, however, we have been randomly getting some in, so if you want one, get your order in so you can be in line!

The Magic of Oz Cling Stamps are already back ordered from Graphic 45, but we are trying frantically to get some in! We appreciate your patience!

Crop A Dile III Main Squeeze Tool!

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

Let your main squeeze be this We R Memory Keepers Crop-A-Dile III Main Squeeze Tool! It  has interchangeable plates for die cutting, attaching, corners, & embossing! Plates just slide on, then give the handles a squeeze for embellishments on any project! You will go embellishment crazy with this handy-dandy tool!

The Crop A Dile III Main Squeeze tool is to be used with the specially designed plates called Squeeze Plates. All you do is slide them on and you will hear them snap into place. All plates have debossed words on the end of them stating TOP or BOTTOM and also on the ends above the plate slips as seen in the image 4.

A good tip for more squeeze pressure is to hold the handles near the ends. This also helps users with small hands! The Squeeze Plates have a special soft pad that protect the squeeze tabs when squeezing. The great thing about Squeeze TABS are that they have designs on BOTH sides!

*Die Cutting and Embossing plates can be ordered separately*

As for the embellishments for the Main Squeeze III, I personally love the corners! We carry a variety of these chic photo corners, such as Copper Corners, Black Shimmer Corners, Crystal Gem Corners,  and Holly Corners to name just a few!

I also really like the Squeeze Tabs! They are fun accents for both cards and layouts! The Gold Squeeze Tabs are great for a Best Buds layout! Then you have the Memories Squeeze Tabs for vacations, and Smile Squeeze Tabs for a girly look!

We also carry a variety of Cutting Plates and Embossing Plates that create fantastic embellishments! If you don’t already have one of these babies, you should take a closer look at what it can do!

There will not be a blog for tomorrow as I am off to San Fransisco to help my son move to start his new job! See you on Monday!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!
