A Time to Celebrate with Spellbinders

Friday, April 19th, 2013

Going back in time a little for this page layout to celebrate Turners first birthday using clock cogs from Spellbinders. When Heather got out these pictures I thought she was pulling out pictures of our younger son Brexton because they look so much alike when they were at this age.

When we got this die cut and the embossing folder of cogs, right away we wanted to do a “Time to Celebrate” page. This is one of those pages that comes together so easily just cut out a bunch of cogs of different sizes and colors and emboss a few papers and the rest is just figuring out where you want to place everything. We used Surprise-Birthday paper for the background paper by Bo Bunny–it really makes a difference  having good patterned paper to work with as a base. If you have a birthday that you are needing to scrapbook this paper stack is a must because there is such a fun variety of patterns and colors to work with.

Decorate it Owl Cards

Monday, March 4th, 2013

Who needs adorable cards in under 5 minutes? I DO! These Decorate it Owl card kits are super adorable and I made 4 cards in about 10 minutes. Let’s talk about them….

  • They come with everything you need to decorate a card. Cards, envelopes, stamps, bling.
  • You can make them really for any occasion.
  • You can use your other products for a different message
  • Most importantly, they are E.A.S.Y!

I kid you not, I have already used two of them. In fact, I almost had to take pictures of them individually because I kept needing to give a card at the last minute. These are so nice to have! You can make multiple cards at once for last minute treats or notes to deliver, or whip one up in a couple of minutes. These are wonderful for beginner to advanced card makers!

Buying a card takes me WAY more time because I can never find one I want and I have to read a bajillion before I’m happy with my purchase…and then I buy one card for $3.50 when I could have had this kit of 8 cards for $11.69. To me, it seems like a no brainer. Pair these up with the new, fabulous, and I-can’t-say-enough-great-things-about-them ink pads by Hero Arts, and you’re set to go! You will love the Hero Arts Decorate It Owl Cards

Blue Citrus Box

Monday, February 25th, 2013

Die Cuts With A View has come out with some extremely fun new paper lines! I know, it is super hard to choose which one you want, but I had my eye on the Blue Citrus pack and, let me tell ya, it’s gorgeous! I have so many fun projects that I want to use this paper for, but a treat box quickly ran to the top of my list. I am a piano teacher and had a huge wicker basket loaded with treats for my students. After a couple of years, I have gotten really sick of how huge it is and that it’s always full of stuff other than treats. So, I got what I think is a brilliant idea to make a darling treat box.

First, I just grabbed the only box I thought might work. It was way too tall for what I had in mind, so I cut it down to a 4 inch height. Then, all I did was size my paper and Mod Podge it to the box. I had a friend sitting with me and she suggests that an adhesive spray would be faster too if you’d like to try that out.

Next, I used my QuicKutz Sunrise Doily and Heartfelt Creations Vintage Floret dies to embellish the box. Oh, and the adorable Eyelet Circle Punches are a new fav! I love a die that gives you several pieces by one run through your machine! Seriously, they are so cute! I just glued them to my box and put the treats inside. I love that it’s cute. I love that it’s small. And I love, love, love the Blue Citrus!

“Lovely” Valentine’s Day Decoration

Monday, February 11th, 2013

Valentine’s Day is THIS WEEK and I still have not decorated for it yet! To be honest, I don’t have a lot of Love Day decorations, so I thought I would start the week making my “Lovely” Valentine’s Day decoration. Don’t worry that Valentine’s Day is this week and you’re down to the wire. If you’re like me and my husband, we celebrate V-day later than the actual day so we can avoid those awful waits at restaurants and we also get the wonderful 50 percent off shopping that comes the day after. So, in my book, my decoration making is right on time to celebrate Valentine’s Day for the rest of the month!

Here’s what you need: The Authentique Lovely Collection Kit, wood blocks, and some Mod Podge. That’s it. Wanna know what I created with these three things? Well, take a look!

IMG_0986

I’m really excited that it turned out so cute and it took me less than an hour from start to finish! That is exactly what I love about the collection kit. It makes it so easy to start and finish a project in a flash because all the little additions are already included. So fun!

Authentique Lovely Collection Kit

Monday, February 4th, 2013

The Authentique Lovely Collection Kit is so much fun to play with and you most certainly CAN use it for more than just Valentine’s Day. Of course, it is going to be adorable for the big love holiday coming up, but I had a lot of fun with it to make some really quick and easy thank you cards!

My daughter spent about a week in the hospital in January and we had our lovely and wonderful neighbors help us out in so many ways. I wanted to do something nice to say thank you, so I made them cookies and got my Authentique kit out. I didn’t have a lot of time on my hands between running my kids to the doctor and teaching piano, so these simple cards were gift wrapped in Heaven for me. I went through the paper really fast, grabbed my favorite non-valentine’s day paper, added some flowers, and added a little embellishment from the kit itself and I was finished. It’s really that easy! Pair these little beauties with some cute cookies and deliver. My neighbors all commented on how beautiful it was, so that always leaves me with a smile.

Heartfelt Creations Vintage Floret

Monday, January 21st, 2013

Heartfelt Creations Vintage Floret is the perfect collection for the season! I feel like this paper goes really well for anything winter or even Valentine’s Day. It’s wistful and has such a romantic feel for me. I really wanted to do a Valentine’s Day layout to feature the paper, but alas, I don’t take pictures on Valentine’s Day (which will have to change!). Instead, I got really excited to go with the “love” theme and make a layout about my little boy because heaven knows I love him.

First, I have to say that Heartfelt Creations knows how to make your job as a scrapbooker/cardmaker easy! You have the flowers, the stamps, the dies, the paper and they all correlate to make a fantastic project. They’re beautiful!

The paper in this pack have quite a few pages with doors on them, which I love. I wanted to give the page a little more depth, so I cut out the middle of the paper and put a different piece behind it. I wanted the door page to serve as a border. I liked that I could tuck my pictures in the page and it also help me cover up his little body a little bit. The rest was super easy by just stamping the flowers and using the Vintage Floret Die to cut them out (it saves SO much time). See that Garden Weave Die D-Lites in the corner of the second page? It’s beautiful! Thank you Spellbinders for making beautiful dies as well!

So, I did go with the ‘love’ theme, but in a non-Valentine’s Day way. I really think you could make some gorgeous V-day cards with this as well, or do what I did and make a page about the things you love most.

Easy Christmas Scrapbook Layout!

Wednesday, December 19th, 2012

Yesterday I gave some tips on getting started in, what I believe, is one of the most fabulous hobbies to be in existence, so I wanted to follow up with an easy Christmas scrapbook layout to show that keeping it simple is fun, creative and attractive!

In case you are wondering, the photo is in fact from last year because, like most people, I am NOT caught up on my scrapbooks, and will likely NEVER be, because I am shutter happy with my camera! I look at it this way- scrapbooks are a work in progress. Enjoy the process! Not every photo has to be “scrapbooked” either. There are divided photo sleeves on the market to include photos that you may not want to actually scrapbook, but want to include in your albums, which make the process a ton easier!

First Car Layout

First Car Layout

I used a variety of products on this layout. I enjoy using different manufacturers products together!
Here’s my list:
FEPAD07-First Edition Christmas Village 12×12 Paper Pad
DC0383- Quickutz Snowflake Punches
DC0180-Quickutz Nesting Frame 7
DA0081-Quickutz Handmade Alphabet
EG-003-Spellbinders M-Bossabilities Garden Lattice (This is a grand size of 8 3/4 x 11 3/4″ which requires the Grand Calibur machine.)
658181-Sizzix Tree & Snowflake
multi-colored rhinestones
Bazzil cardstock
adhesive
GC-001-Spellbinders Grand Calibur machine

This was really easy and only took aprox. an hour or so to complete! If my rhinestones would have been self adhesive, it would have taken less time, so if you have the self sticking kind, go for those!

I hope this will inspire to you to take some time during the holidays and cold evenings to start on those photos! Your family will love going through the memories later!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

First Edition Christmas Village

Monday, December 17th, 2012

Don’t we all agree that First Edition has the most beautiful paper? Well, if you don’t have a strong opinion on the matter, make your way over to the First Edition page and scroll through! You’ll certainly fall in love at least 4 times, I guarantee it. The First Edition Christmas Village paper is absolutely gorgeous and a must-have to scrapbook those holiday pictures your about to take in just 7 days!

With the holiday season winding down, I’m a little strapped for time on my neighbor gifts, so I’m so glad I have this beautiful paper to help me out! I needed something and I needed it fast! I rounded up my cricut and got to work.  If you make boxes at anytime, the best thing to add to your collection is a handy, dandy Scor-Pal! It takes the guessing out of the folding. So nice!

This little puppy takes about 5 minutes to whip up! Think of all the possibilities! So cute! I’m going to fill my little tree boxes with fun little treats and hand them out at my piano recital and to my lovely neighbors. Have fun with the season of giving!!

Christmas Layout with Bo Bunny

Friday, December 14th, 2012

Here is a really cute Christmas layout using Bo Bunny Snow Day paper pack and embellished with Want2Scrap’s Retro Christmas Ornaments. When I saw these embellishments I really wanted to go for a throwback “retro” look so I just rounded all of the corners to the paper and photos and I think that the page really looks unified. This is a fun layout that you could use with just about any Christmas paper, I like the blues and browns but if you like more traditional colors of Christmas just start with a deep red or green and throw some other patterned paper on it. Give this one a try!

We have been doing so many craft ideas lately that it was a lot of fun going back to a scrapbook page. Hope you are enjoying your Christmas season and make sure you don’t neglect that crafting table.

Want2Scrap Leaf Album!

Wednesday, November 21st, 2012

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving in the USA and no matter how you celebrate this Want2Scrap Leaf Album is perfect for storing those captured moments with family, friends or even personal thoughts for future generations. See HERE for all of our chipboard albums!

What are you thankful for? Of course, my first thoughts are of my family, but when I really think about it, there are so many simple things I am grateful for, that my list could go on forever!

I created this album using Want2 Scrap’s Chipboard Album Leaf by Joe Rotella as a fun way to store our Thanksgiving photos and I would like each of us to write down what we are grateful for, so I can scrapbook those thoughts in the album next to their photo, just to make it more personalized.

It was fun, but I’m not done yet. I will finish embellishing the inside when I get the photos and individual gratitude sheets placed, so I have plenty of room for those, then embellish around them.

I started out tracing the pattern on paper and cutting with scissors, but quickly discarded the scissors for an X-acto Knife and my cutting mat.  That was much better! Here are a few of the pages.

Other products used were:

DCWV Harvest Gathering Stack and Cardstock Stack (from my older paper stash)

Want2Scrap 6105 Frilly Flourish Swirl-Silver Rhinestones

Want2Scrap 4306-S Silhouettes-Garden Motiff

Want2Scrap 3177 Chipboard Sentiments-Moments

TIM32823-Tim Holtz Distress Ink Gathered Twigs (See more color choices HERE)

This is also a fun project to do with kids (let them cut with scissors), as a family Thanksgiving activitiy when you are to stuffed to do anything else!

As we head into this holiday season, let us all keep in our minds those things which we are truly grateful for. If we do that, we are more thoughtful of those less fortunate.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Cut@Home! May you all have a safe and wonderful holiday weekend!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Spellbinders Die D-Lites with First Edition Blank Canvas Card

Monday, November 19th, 2012

I feel like it’s been forever since I made a card! I really missed it! The Spellbinders’ Die D-Lites and First Edition Blank Canvas paper make card making so much fun and so easy to do! The paper is so gorgeous that I didn’t feel like I had to do much to make this card beautiful.

First, I took the Spellbinders Die D-Lites Frame One and cut it out of my main paper. Instead of cutting out the frame and gluing it on, I wanted to make a whole so I could put a different color background behind the paper.

Next, I cut out the Whimsical Tree. Be sure to use your wax paper so you can get your tree out easier. I forgot mine and it took a little patience to get it out without ripping it. If you haven’t used wax paper with your dies yet, you’ll be in heaven when you try it. Just layer as follows: Paper (bottom), wax paper (middle), and the die on top.

Lastly, I embellished with with Want2Scrap Beautiful Blooms and your stamp of choice. I love that it was very simple, yet turned out so pretty.

I hope you get to make some fun cards for the upcoming Holidays!!!

Heartfelt Creations Halloween Pages

Friday, October 5th, 2012

As promised, here are the pages for our Happy Halloween Book that we made and most of them use the same Heartfelt Creations Paper Collection. I think that I have a new favorite Halloween decoration because it is a lot of fun going back and remembering how cute our kids were in their costumes. A lot of these pages use the Heartfelt Creations Classic Editions Paper Collection, Classic Editions die cut, and stamp sets that coordinate with the die cut set. This combination of paper, die cuts, and stamps make putting Halloween pages together really fun and simple. There are a lot of combinations you can put together with all of this and your imagination really is the limit.

Bo Bunny Fall Layout!

Tuesday, September 25th, 2012

My husband and I have had a great time the last few weeks riding our Harley through the beautiful Utah canyons to see the colorful fall leaves that I have displayed on this fun Bo Bunny fall layout.

We have had a blast! This past weekend we rode with our youngest son, who also has a motorcycle, and who shares his mom’s passion for photography. We just HAD to stop and shoot a few pics on the way to capture the beauty of the fall colors on the mountains. He even took a shot of me and my husband going around a turn while riding! (I’ll have to talk to him AGAIN about driver’s safety and no taking pictures while driving, but I am happy to have the shot, since I didn’t know he was taking it at the time.) Luckily we were the only ones on that stretch of road at the time!

I adore this Bo Bunny Apple Cider 12×12 paper pad! It is SO gorgeous for fall scrapbook pages or projects! It also comes in 6×6 which is great for those fall invitations and cards.

Products used:

13216375 Bo Bunny Apple Cider 12×12 Paper Pad

The little card cutouts are actually from one of the sheets. It has a lot of different images that you either have little sayings on the block or can be used for journaling.

Included in this pad are eighteen 12×12″ sheets of double sided designer paper including journaling card paper and one sheet of coordinating cardstock stickers in warm fall colors of red, orange, green and brown.

Have you been out yet to see the changes in the leaves in your surrounding area? It is a great time to get some fresh air and relax. Don’t forget your camera!

Tell Your Story Collection Pack

Monday, August 27th, 2012

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: Teresa Collins steals my heart every time and the Tell Your Story Collection Pack is no exception. It is adorable, beautiful, sweet, comfortable, playful, and fun! If you’re thinking, “Hmm….that’s a little what love sounds like,” then your absolutely right! It’s wonderful and fun to be in love and that’s exactly what using this paper felt like: wonderful and fun! Normally I spend countless minutes (even hours) matching paper, looking at ideas, trying to form a layout from an endless stupor of a scrapbookers “writer’s block”. This was not so. I gathered some dies, sat down, and the next thing I knew I had a double sided layout and a smile on my face. It was easy. It was effortless. It was fun!

For my first page, I chose my paper, chose two dies to work with, snipped a little here and there and was done! What? Yes! It’s that easy! I used the Quickutz Cookie Cutter Clouds die to give a little more aestheticism to the layering. I then used the A2 Matting Basics to place my pictures and add more pop of color. I didn’t think these matting tools would really ever come in handy, but one use and I’m converted! After cutting a few butterflies and adding raffia, I was done.

My second page was just as easy. This collection pack has so many things that I love about it, but one of the most useful things about it, is that some of the pages are matts or journaling embellishments. Can we all say, “LOVELY” together! Sigh. I used the Quickutz Braid and Knots on this page to “tie” the family theme together and I like how it turned out.

Products Used:

YS1029 – Teresa Collins Tell Your Story Collection Pack

DC0284 – QuicKutz Butterflies

S5-132 – A2 Matting Basics B

DC0338 – Quickutz Sun & Clouds

Dc0328 – Braid

DR0326 – Knots

Raffia

Adhesive

Seriously, when you have a good product, you don’t have to do that much to make something beautiful! I can’t scream loud enough that collection packs are a dream. They give you the paper and the embellishments which make a layout come out of thin air in no time. Go get that little thing called love (in paper form)!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!
