Cut@Home Blog - Scrapbooking & Card Making Ideas

I Am Such A Spellbinders Cut, Fold & Tuck Fan!

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012

Today I would like to share a couple of my favorite pics from CHA! I don’t have photos of the Spellbinders booth since we previewed so many of their new items during the Blog Frenzy, but better than that, I conned Terre and Margie from Spellbinders to let me have a picture with them! These ladies are so talented and fun, and I have been lucky to get acquainted with them over the phone and at CHA!

Margie demonstrated some of the new dies, then helped me make a card using the new Cut, Fold and Tuck dies. Oh my gosh, they are cool! They are so easy and look incredible once they are all put together! I am SO in love with the woven look! They are totally my favorite dies of this new release and I have a feeling they will be an extremely HOT item.  The Romantic Rectangles come in a close second for me (no, it is not because of the name). Currently, these items are still listed in our Pre-Order category until our first shipment arrives.

I had a great time at the Spellbinders booth last week! These ladies like to laugh as much as I do, so that, along with the make & takes and demos made it lots of fun to be at their booth!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Spellbinders Abilities and Beyond Blog Frenzy-Day Eight!

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

We have arrived to the final day of Spellbinders Abilities and Beyond Blog Frenzy already! Now, there’s no need for tears. We can look forward to seeing more of the CHA releases soon! We have only seen a portion of the release, and trust me, there is still more to come! I believe patience is a virtue many of us crafters still have to work on, myself included!

With that said, let’s get moving on today’s frenzy! We have been given a treat today of four amazing designers sharing their talents with us on the projects they have created with the Spellbinders products they have been given to work with. I continue to be in awe every day!

We begin with designer Gloria Stengel using the S5-102 Aster Flower Topper Shapeabilities  and E8-012 Classic Decorative Inserts Four on her get well window card and sunflower tag. I know I would feel better instantly if I received one of these! Adorable Gloria!

Product Sizes:

2. Dots: 3/4 x 8″
3. Large Flowers: 1 x 8″

Designer Nina Brackett has made some very personal gifts with the dies she was presented with. She has designed two unique necklaces with coordinating cards using S5-088 Sewing Elements  and S5-089 Home Sweet Home shapeabilities. She cut and embossed the shapes out of shrink film,  using markers for highlighting and stamping different designs on them before baking. Ingenious Nina!

Product Sizes:

1. Spool: 1 1/2 x 2″
2. Machine: 2 1/2 x 2 1/8″
3. Pin Cushion: 1 7/8 x 1 7/8″

11. Round Tag: 1 1/4 x 1″
12. Rectangle Tag: 1 1/4 x 7/8″

I can’t even tell you how much I already love the new M-Bossabilities folders! I am thrilled that Spellbinders thought to utilize both sides of the folder with different, but coordinating patterns. Not only does it save storage space, but it saves time not having to switch folders! This was a brilliant idea in my book!

Designer Tina McDonald makes great use of the 4 1/4 x 5 1/2″ ES-001 Simplicity M-Bossabilities on her trinket box and tag. She was also given the S5-068 Decorative Dress Forms shapeabilities which she incorporated beautifully on these projects.  I believe she also snuck in a few other new items! I’ll let you figure out which ones. Fabulous projects Tina!

Product Sizes:

1. Lattice: 1 7/8 x 2 1/4″
2. Scalloped: 2 1/8 x 2 5/8″
3. Plain: 1 3/4 x 3 1/8″
4. Swirls: 1 3/4 x 3 1/8″

Our final designer for this incredible Blog Frenzy is….(drum roll please!) Windy Robinson! I don’t even want to know how long it took her to roll all of these gorgeous flowers! At first I thought they were real and that the project was the box, but then I saw the dies she was using! Wow! This is over the top Windy! She did a fabulous job creating her beautiful flower box and card using the following dies. Just take a look for yourselves!

S4-357 Spiral Blossom Three:

Product Size:

Flower: 4 3/8″

EL-oo5 Splendid M-Bossabilities

I believe we have been extremely blessed with inspiration over the past eight days. Don’t you think? In behalf of  Cut@Home, I would like to express our appreciation to Spellbinders and their designers for permitting us to be included in this wonderful Blog Frenzy. Thank you so much!

I would also like to thank you, our customers, for participating with us! It has been lots of fun!

Spellbinders Abilities and Beyond Blog Frenzy-Day Seven!

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

Here we are, already on day seven of Spellbinders Abilities and Beyond Blog Frenzy! Can you believe it? Only two days left! I am in awe of today’s products and designer projects! We have some spectacular things to show you today, so let’s not waste another minute!

Designer Linda Duke introduces Spellbinders first item of the day S5-090 Romantic Rectangles Nestabilities with two projects that fit the name! There is most definitely an elegant, romantic touch to her projects which truly proves paper crafting an art! These are wonderful Linda!

Product sizes:

1. 1 1/4 x 1″
2. 2 7/8 x 1 7/8″
3. 4 1/4 x 2 3/4″
4. 5 7/8 x 3 7/8″

There must be a romance in the air, because designer Sherry Cheever has designed her projects with a similar feel. The intricate S5-064 Moroccan Accents and S5-065 Moroccan Motifs was her inspiration to create her lovely box and lantern below. Thank you Sherry!

S5-064 Moroccan Accents:

Product sizes:

1. Border: 9 x 7/8″
2. Corners: 2 x 1 1/4″
3. Star Small: 1/2″
4. Star large: 3/4″
5. Oblong Accent: 1 5/8 x 3″
6. Large Accent: 2 3/4″

S5-065 Moroccan Motifs:

Product sizes:

1. Flower small: 1/2″
2. Star: 1 3/4″
3. Round: 1 1/8″
4. Motif small: 1 1/2″
5. Motif medium: 2 1/2″
6. Motif large: 4 1/8″

And now, on to our final revelation of the day. AJ Otto has made wonderful use of 5 x 7″ EL-004 Imperial M-Bossabilities by creating an oh so cute- mini album and fun layout! She shows us how versatile these reversible M-Bossabilites are to emboss different projects! Thanks for sharing AJ!

These are all so great!  One of the things I love about crafting is that you can give two people the same items and put them to work and their projects will turn out so very different! The great thing about these tools for paper crafting is you can use them over and over and never turn out the same look twice! There are just so many p0ssabilities!

**Reminder- If you have already placed a pre-order and would like additional pre-order items, you can add to your existing pre-order at any time during the pre-order season! This will save you shipping!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

This was a lot of fun because I got the pictures from my mom and I had not seen some of them before! My sweet, spunky grandmother is the brunette sister and my mom is the blond niece on the left, so it was even more special for me to have 3 generations of my family tree in this project!

**I would like to include a note about shipping today. For those who are waiting for packages to arrive, this may help answer some of your questions! This was a notice sent to me this morning and I would like to share it with all of you!

USA ORDERS. You should see your item soon…..but please understand that we do not “control” the US Postal Service. I wish we could!! LOL!!! Once we ship your order, you and I have to rely on the Postal Service to deliver the package in a timely manner, and they can be rather erratic at times to say the least as I’m sure you know. We have seen tremendous differences in package travel times for some reason. You could receive your package in 2 days, or it could take 2 weeks. I really don’t understand why this happens, but again, it is something we have no control over. Average travel time runs 4-8 days, but from time to time, a package might take 2 weeks. I thank you for understanding.

****** INTERNATIONAL ORDERS ******
****** VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!! ******

Travel time on International orders can take up to 6 WEEKS to arrive. It averages 20-30 days, with some packages arriving faster than that, but 35+ day travel time is VERY common and quite normal, and can even be a bit longer if the package is held up in the Customs Department in your country waiting to be cleared for delivery.

The countries that take the longest are….

BRAZIL (30-40 days)

ITALY (35-45 days)

GERMANY (25-35 days)

AUSTRALIA (30-40 days of late. The reason why is because there was a major software crash at the Australian Customs Department. In the words of the Customs Department there, it has created “10 weeks of chaos” and is causing HUGE delays in travel time)

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Update On Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

This is not a fun post today, but we really want to try to keep the communication going with as many of our customers as possible!

We regret to inform you that due to the increased demand of the S5-055 Layered Poinsettia, Spellbinders was caught unaware and is completely sold out of this die. Their next shipment is due to arrive the end of December and will not arrive before Christmas.

We also have back order notifications on items S4-282 2010 Heirloom Ornaments and S4-334 2011 Heirloom Ornaments. We have been told not to expect these in until the end of December also.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has cause many of you, as we know that  you have been waiting for these items to complete projects for Christmas.  Please know that this is frustrating to everyone, but their popularity was impossible to predict and Spellbinders is doing their very best to get them manufactured as quickly as possible!

You may want to consider substituting with the s5-050 Rose Creations for a Christmas rose instead of a Poinsettia, or maybe even try LF-005 Grand Peony Creations for a unique Christmas flower.

We have tried to send out emails to those who have orders pending for those items, so please check your emails if you are one of those waiting. You can also contact us to check on the status of your order!

We very much appreciate your understanding!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Teresa Collins Chic Bebe Boy Pack!

Friday, November 18th, 2011

2012 is fast approaching, and with it some new babies in my family! My youngest sister and my daughter are both expecting baby boys within 5 weeks of each other! I decided it would be fun to make an album for one of them out of the Teresa Collins Chic Bebe Boy pack! She has created beautiful designs for this pack as usual!

I kept the embellishments simple to leave plenty of room for pictures as well as journaling. They are all from the pack, although, I did use the Spellbinders Cukoo Clock and Classic Rectangles Large to dress up the first page.

This pack includes nine 12×12 double-sided cardstock papers. die-cut chipboard elements, 12×12 transparencies, alphabet stickers, journaling cards, envelopes, ribbons and tags in colors of baby blue and black.

Please note that the Teresa Collins Chic Bebe Girl pack does NOT include the chipboard elements like the Chic Bebe Boy. It includes nine 12×12 double-sided cardstock papers, 12×12 transparencies, alphabet stickers, journaling cards, envelopes, ribbons and tags in colors of baby pink and black.

Here is a peak of my album!

I also put together a card and envelope to match from the pack! That makes it totally easy!

I know that most of you can put together a much more elaborate album than I did from the pack, but I like to keep it simple so whoever I give it to can add more embellishments or trinkets that are special to them.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Updates On Silhouette Cameo And Other Popular Products

Monday, November 14th, 2011

First of all, I would like to give the good news that we have received more of DC0220 Tags from the Quickutz Be Splendid Collection! Hooray! This is good news! They are so pretty and perfect for any gift tag, not just Christmas!

Now on to the “other” news. We have had some problems with our Back Ordered button not wanting to stay on for some items on our website. One of these is the Silhouette Cameo Machine.

We hope that you read the following statement in the item details, if not ,we have tried to email each customer with this information:

We are expecting the machines to come in the First Week of December as the manufacturer will not be receiving more in until then.”

If it makes you feel better, I don’t get mine until then either! We sold these so fast that I missed out on the first two shipments myself, and I work here! We ALWAYS fill orders in the order in which they come in as product becomes available.

We also have back order status updates on the following which have also had problems with the back order button:

GC-003 Grand Raspberry Plate- Back ordered from Spellbinders until Nov. 20th.

S5-055 Layered Poinsettia-Back ordered from Spellbinders until Nov. 27th.

We apologize for any inconvenience, however, we have all of the above items on order and will be shipping orders as soon as we receive the items! We appreciate your patience!

I hope that this information has been helpful! We are trying our best to get things in as fast as possible for you!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Heartfelt Creations Christmas Stamp Sets

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

I really think that this is my favorite Christmas release so far! Heartfelt Creations Christmas release is gorgeous as always! I really love that their stamp sets coordinate so perfectly with so many Spellbinders dies. It is really fun to sit down and create more dimensional projects using dies and stamps together.

There has been so much going on around my house lately that I have had a hard time getting into my craft room! Lately I just pass by with a longing look, hoping that maybe I’ll have a few spare minutes to go in and create! (SIGH!)

Last night I finally told myself that I deserved a break, so between loads of laundry, I took an hour to sit down (well, sort of sit down) and do something I WANT to do instead of HAVE to do.

I have been dying to use my new Heartfelt stamps and coordinating Spellbinders dies, so I put together a fast and easy Christmas layout using the following products:

S5-055 Layered Poinsettia

s4-334 2011 Heirloom Ornaments

LF-347 Grand Labels Twenty Three

S4-347 Labels Twenty Three

S4-132 Classic Rectangles Large

HCPC 3415 Petite Poinsettia

HCPC 3416 Poinsettia Ornament 1

DCWV Christmas paper (older stack)

Tattered Angel Pearl Glitter Mist

Gold ribbon

1/8″ Scor-Tape

I stamped all my images first, then made my templates and cut and embossed all the shapes using my Cuttlebug Machine. Then I sprayed the poinsettias with Glitter Mist and let dry.  When it was dry, I used my finger to curl the petals then used glue dots to put them together on the ornament. I used a black Dew Drop for the center.

Everything else I did is pretty obvious by the photo! Ah, I finally had some time to play, even if it wasn’t for to long. I feel better now!

If you are like me and don’t have much time, try to at least grab some precious time when you can! It is very relaxing!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

So Cute Spellbinders Presto Punch Templates!

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

I love anything small. Buttons, brads, eyelets, even 1/8″ ribbon gets used more with me than the thicker ribbon. I guess I have a more dainty eye. When I saw the Presto Punch templates from Spellbinders, they were right up my alley! They are little and so cute!

Most of these dies are under 2″ so they are perfect little embellishments for cards, mini albums and even layouts! They are just fun for just about any project that you can think of!

Just like other Spellbinders dies, these templates are designed for paper crafters. An automatic punching and embossing system, it eliminates the need for bulky, heavy, space consuming punches. Store more than 30 Punch Templates in the space of one standard scrapbook punch! That means that they are great for taking to crops! They will save SO much space in your tote.

There are a variety of different templates to choose from and even the beloved Labels! There are shapes for almost every season and two alphabets. What will Spellbinders come up with next?

Spellbinders has also informed us that other 2 x 2″ wafer thin dies are compatible with the Presto Punch Machine! Cool!

If you haven’t had a chance to check out these little babies, you should take a minute to see just how cute they really are!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Scrapbook The Firsts!

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

Most of us will take photos of the first milestones in our children’s lives and scrapbook them as quickly as possible, but do we remember to even think about ourselves and the milestones that we reach? Sometimes the big stuff, but not always the little things. Like the fist gray hair….

I spotted my first gray hair about a week before I turned 45. I wasn’t sure if it was really gray or if the light in my bathroom was playing tricks on me, so I yanked it out! Sure enough, it was actually white! I just looked at it like child inspecting a blade of grass. I was more curious that anything. Did this really come out of my head? I don’t feel old enough to get a gray hair!

I sat there looking at it for a few minutes trying to sort out my feelings about this, then decided that I should scrapbook it for sure! I was only a month and a half away from becoming a grandma, so this was monumental! I was running late for work, so I set it down in a place where I could see it later and off to work I went! Later that night I was doing something around that spot and then, in panic, remembered the hair! I searched all over, but alas, it was no where to be found! To tell the truth, I was sad! I really wanted to scrapbook it! I had to wait over 6 months later to find my second one, so it became my substitute. I had my son take a picture of me (he already knows I’m a little weird) and was ready to archive my gray hair. Why not? My mom saved my first haircut!

When I saw the Teresa Collins Noteworthy paper, it was perfect for what I wanted in my page!

Other supplies used:

Quickutz- English Rose Alphabet

Spellbinders- Labels Twenty Three 2 3/8 x 3″ die, Grand Labels Twenty Three 6 1/4 x 5″ die, Grand Rectangles 4 x 5″ die and Retro Mod Clocks

DCWV- Metallic Stack

Tim Holtz- Idea-ology Word Sticks

Fiskars- Clear Stamps

Creative Memories- clear envelope

I would like to challenge each of you to think of something that has been a first for you recently and scrapbook it! Maybe it was trying sushi for the first time or a new hairstyle. What did you think? Take a picture and make sure you journal how you felt at the time. Firsts are important no matter how old you are!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Arriving Soon! Heartfelt Creations Decorative Basket Collection!

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

Heartfelt Creations artists are once again bringing us another outstanding collection which includes five gorgeous stamp sets with coordinating die! The Decorative Basket Collection is expected to start shipping next week! It is sure to be a favorite!

The stamps that are included in the Decorative Basket Collection are:

Decorative Basket

Woven Basket

Botanical Floral Basket

Basketweave Background

Belated Birthday Wishes

The exclusive Spellbinders die made just for Heartfelt Creations that coordinate with this stamps set is the HCD 714 Decorative Layered Basket Die.  It includes 3 dies.

Approximate Die Sizes:

1. Decor Basket: 3 1/2 x 2 3/4″
2. Layer Basket: 3 7/8 x 2 7/8″
3. Leaf Spray: 1 3/4 x 1 3/8″

I was inspired yesterday while reading Tim Holtz‘s Blog. He mentioned that one way he gets past a creative block is to organize! He finds stuff he forgot about and becomes inspired! Well, I decided that my space could use a bit of tidying up, and I found some little things I had forgot about that I  could use on my project for  today’s blog! I also used some of my brand new stuff that I have been dying to try!

I used the Decorative Layered Basket Die (available next week!) on my card below. I used the solid basket die to cut printed paper then used the decorative die to cut a marbled  card stock to layer. I did have to run the decorative die through my Cuttlebug Machine 2-3 times to make sure it cut through all the way as it is more intricate.

Other items used in this project were from Spellbinders and  Donna Salazar Creative Book Pages Two.  Paper from Teresa Collins World Traveler 6 x 6 paper pad. Flowers were made using the smallest flower and leaf from Heartfelt Creations Botanical Floral 2 then cutting with Spellbinders Rose Creations Die set. Other embellishments- mini brads, label from Making Memories, adhesive acrylic sentiment, sanding block for distressing embossed edges.

It was fun to go through and find stuff that was stashed away for a while! It felt like I had something new and it was already paid for! That’s always a good feeling!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Cuttlebug V2 Die Cutting Machine From Provo Craft

Thursday, August 4th, 2011

I thought that I would take today’s blog to spotlight one of my favorite little machines! Provo Craft Cuttlebug Machine V2!  This machine is very similar to the older version which it replaced. It has the same sleek design and works the same as the older model, however, Provo Craft says it is more durable with its stronger outer casing and metal handle. It has an easy carrying handle making it very portable.

This little guy is a worker! It is the smallest machine I have, but definitely the most used! It is very user friendly and is great to take to crops, as the design enables it to fold up and take up very little space. With buying the extended 13″ plates, there are not many things that I can’t do with it! Use it for all your card making and scrapbooking die cutting or embossing projects!

With it’s 6 inch opening, it is compatible with QuicKutz, Boss Kut, Spellbinders, and Sizzix dies and embossing folders. It is NOT compatible with Spellbinders Grand dies or Sizzix Bigz Pro dies.

Tip: Keep one B Cutting Pad dedicated as your top plate for cutting and embossing. This will help the Adaptor C and other B Cutting Pad last much longer so you are not replacing them as often! The top pad will get really warped and ugly, but don’t worry! Just keep flipping it over and over and it will become your most loved (but ugly) plate! you won’t want to be without it! It should last quite a long time, but once it breaks, you will need to replace it, so I suggest having spares on hand. You can bet that it will break late at night, right in the middle of an important project, so it is important to have one handy!

If handled properly, the A Spacer Plate should last as long as your machine, however, we do carry replacements of all the standard and extended plates JUST IN CASE!

Thanks and Happy Scrappin’!

Sparkle N Sprinkle Stamps With Coordinating Spellibinders Dies!

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011

I love when I receive goodies in the mail, don’t you? So you understand when I tell you that I was delighted to receive card samples from some of the talented designers at Sparkle N Sprinkle without knowing they were coming! I mean, one handmade card is fun, but 7 at once is way more than I get for my birthday! Wow!

All of the Sparkle N Sprinkle stamp sets that we carry have a sticky cushioned backing. All you have to do is place them on an acrylic block (sold separately) and stamp away! Sparkle N Sprinkle have partnered with Spellbinders dies and have been producing stamp sets to coordinate with many of the Spellbinders Nestabilities dies. They will continue to release new products in this vein.

I want to share them with you since I just can’t keep them for myself! I would like to thank Sparkle N Sprinkle designers Elenor Jenkins, Julie B. Warner, Donna Maligno, Shona Erlenborn and Judy Rozema for the beautiful cards! We appreciate all the work that you put into creating them!

Designer for both festive cards- Shona Erlenborn using Nesties Xmas Trees and Nesties Ornaments with coordinating Spellbinders dies 2010 Holiday Trees.

Designers Julie B. Warner and Elenor Jenkins created these beautiful cards using Thanks a Bunch, Happy Birthday and Blossoms stamp sets. Coordinating Spellibinders Dies for the Blossoms stamp set are Blossom Three and Nested Leaves.

Designers Judy Rozema and Donna Maligno used Ocean Treasures and By the Seashore. Spellbinders dies used by Judy are  Classic Ovals Large and Classic Scalloped Ovals Large.

Now you can see why I was so thrilled to open the mail that day! These are wonderful! Thank you Sparkle N Sprinkle!
